The full NBA schedule release is tomorrow afternoon but today the league unveiled the group play schedule of the Emirates NBA Cup.

The Mavs are in West Group B and will play their games on four consecutive early season Fridays:

11/7 at MEM
11/14 vs LAC
11/21 vs NO
11/28 at LAL

Of note about the opener, the NBA says it’s just the second time since 1966 the top two players in that year’s draft (Cooper Flagg & Dylan Harper) will face each other in their NBA debuts (also, KAT & DLo in 2015).

It’s the 8th time the Mavs have opened the season against SA, the most of any opp.

The full NBA schedule release is Thurs but today NBC/Peacock & ESPN/ABC dropped a preview of games on some key dates…which include 3 Mavs games.

Opener - Oct. 22, home vs Spurs (830p CDT), the 3rd season in a row w/ a Mavs-Spurs opener
XMas - at Warriors (4p CST)
MLK Day (1/19) - at Knicks (4p CST)

Big day today! Hiked up Mount Washington, the high point of New Hampshire (6,288 feet asl), via the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail/Crawford Path. Approx 4 miles & over 3700 feet of elevation gain. A very warm day by MW standards (hi of 66) to reach state high point #9! Now in Maine, my 45th state to visit!

The NCAA has voted NO on tourney expansion for 2026 ‼️

In New England for a few days (work & long wknd at Cape Cod). Went to Jerimoth Hill, the highpoint of Rhode Island. It’s 812 feet asl, the 5th lowest state highpoint. My 8th state highpoint.

Many yrs ago it was on private property and the owner limited access. It’s now on land owned by the state.

Mavericks team up with Rockets, Spurs to offer donation for Hill Country flood victims The Mavericks, Rockets and Spurs joined a growing list of Texas sports franchises to offer aid for flooding victims.

The Mavs made the free agent signing of D’Angelo Russell official tonight. The lower number that Kyrie is reported to have taken in season one of his new deal freed up the taxpayer MLE, the reported number for DLo’s deal to join the Mavs after 10 seasons w/ the Lakers, Nets, Timberwolves & Warriors.

The Mavs announced this afternoon they’ve re-signed 9-time All-Star Kyrie Irving. Previously reported transactions can start becoming official w/ the July moratorium ending Sunday morning. Kyrie reportedly took a lower first year number than his player option to free up other roster building tools.

Jordan Hall: 9 NBA games w/ SA in 22-23 season.

Jamarion Sharp: Texas Legends last season and was in Mavs training camp/preseason.

Zhuric Phelps: Texas Mr. Basketball (2021) at Duncanville HS, played at SMU & Texas A&M.

Obinna Anochili-Killen: 2nd in NCAA last season in bpg (3.2) at Marshall.

Melvin Ajinça - 2024 Mavs 2nd round pick who just completed second season in top flight in France.

The Mavs announced two 2-way contract signings today, anticipated deals for Ryan Nembhard & Miles Kelly.

Nembhard - NCAA assist leader last year as a senior at Gonzaga (9.8/game).

Kelly - 3 seasons at Ga. Tech. Sr at Auburn, starter on a team ranked #1 for ~ 2 months last year. 11 ppg, 38% on 3s.

Great to be part of a full Fox Sports Summer of Soccer day. First day of Women's Euros matches w/ Finland and Norway winning.

Gold Cup semis tonight on FS1, USA clinched a spot in the final w/ a 2-1 win vs Guatemala. Now it's Mexico vs Honduras, the legend Landon Donovan joins me for the telecast.

Gold Cup group stage play concludes today. Landon Donovan & I are the crew for Panama v Jamaica at 7p EDT on FS1. Panama look to join the USA as the only teams to not drop pts in group stage. Jamaica really need a win but w/ tiebreaker scenarios even that may not be enough to send them to KO stage.

Group B is the group in action today at the CONCACAF Gold Cup. First game of FS1 doubleheader is Canada vs Curaçao with Landon Donovan and me at 7p EDT.

Canada opened the Gold Cup with an outstanding performance, drubbing Honduras 6-0 and a win today sends them to the KO stage.
