Naming things in fantasy can be ridiculously tricky. In English, we steal from other languages so we can have Mount mountain and the Desert deserts without most people noticing. What tricks do you use coming up with names in fantasy #writing and #worldbuilding?

Nothing specific, I guess I just miss what the writing community of twitter used to be. I deleted my account because that was is trash now, sadly

I’m no longer on twitter because it was too much of a trash land to continue. This place is nice but also super little interaction overall so I’ve been neglecting it

So what is the #writingcommunity doing here anyway? Is everyone just posting into the void talking to themselves or is there a corner where conversations actually exist?

I don’t like the idea that people see me as an adult just because I’m past 18. I have no interest in being such and only pretend when I absolutely must. Also I don’t go by earth years. I go by mars years so I’m 19 not 36.

Why do you buy more books when you already have many you haven’t read?

I’m genuinely curious.

I have only 1 book on my tbr and I’m currently reading a book. And this is all I’ll have for this year because I know I can’t finish more.

Twitter made the decision for me to leave after my account was hacked and then suspended probably for whatever activity happened after it was hacked. It was great to finally leave it behind. I should have done it ages ago. Welcome to this place where it’s mostly no intersction but also peaceful

It’s too subjective to define completely. Definitely the sentences have to be grammarically correct and make sense and the story has to make sense too, but other than that, it depends. For example to me King’s writing style is shit and unenjoyable. But obviously to many it’s not.

OK, so this is a serious question on behalf of my masters degree. What do you think makes good writing?

Mine’s unusual
I think of an idea. Then I go, cool ok, and I let it be. If my brain forgets about it, I know it was not born out of passion. But if my brain keeps coming back to it, I think about it for months, then eventually start writing it

Do you ever just get an idea and you feel so smugly proud about it amd get so excited to write it?

I guess I’m a horse. It gives me anxiety to breathe through my mouth. Once I went scuba diving and had a panic attack after like, 30 seconds with the thing for breathing in my mouth and had to come back up
