step one: before you go out (or just like whenever you have the time), locate your best-fitting pair of jeans/pants. For best results, you don't want to use something with an elastic waistband!

step 2: pull the waistband taut (this is why you don't want an elastic waistband).

step 2/3: measure the waistband against your arm. this was born out of me not being able to find measuring tape, but it works well! I'm lucky though and have a mole on my arm that I use for reference, but if it goes to your elbow, halfway up your forearm, etc, that's good to remember.

step 4: when pants shopping, instead of trying on a bunch of pairs of pants that Might fit (hell), simply measure them up against your arm (or a tape measure if you want to be precise). I have had a 100% success rate with pants/skirt/etc shopping using this method, especially when the pants in question were marked as a size I wouldn't have thought to look at otherwise.

so I started doing this when clothes shopping since women's pants sizes are laughably inconsistent, but I imagine it'd work for any pants? it changed the game for me so I thought i'd share just in case anybody out there hates trying on clothes as much as I do

also they probably already told you this, but also there are nurses who will ignore this for some reason: if you're getting your bp read, keep your feet flat against the floor (or at least don't cross them) and don't talk bc that CAN throw off the results iirc

you can probably ask them to take it again just to be double sure? I'm not a doctor obv and i've never had bp issues BUT I have had a few wacky reads because the strap was misaligned (they would retake it and it was fine)

but a nurse would know better than me so i'd talk to him or the doc abt it
