It is not often that I make a 2 #FossilFriday posts but, I will make an exception. This is the skeleton of the fish Xiphactinus audax. It was found by a friend looking fossils in the Late Cretaceous (Santonian) Smokey Hill Chalk in Kansas. You think you afraid of the ocean now? You've seen nothing!

i'm okay with it even if there's some aspects of my writing you were slightly uncertain about, if you wanna express that to me to my face. where others see backhanded compliments, i see someone engaging with the complexities of my work!

any feedback that's from the heart and original, especially if it's detailed and/or nuanced. even if your takeaway is slightly unintended, it's good to know my work lives and evolves in someone else like that!

you're right though. some things are widely praised because they are good.

i appreciate that you can't immediately intuit the main cast's personalities just from looking at their character designs. i appreciate that the protagonist's struggles beget him some genuinely unlikeable traits, without compromising his framing as a hero. it only gets better in hindsight.

Man. FF7 really was the goat and deserved all that praise. the lifestream was such a great way to explore grief, identity, and environmental issues all at once.

there are definitely very annoying aspects to this website but i have to be honest, a lot of people’s complaints can easily be solved by following people who post good instead of post bad

This show leans heavily on its big reveals, which aren’t even that impactful when they happen. It’s honestly impressive how they managed to make eight episodes feel so poorly paced.

And, of course, the tone of the geopolitics remains off, but I could almost forgive that if it weren’t so boring.

Fallout, Season Two

There’s a bunch of low-hanging fruit I could pick at here, so instead I’ll say:

It was boring. The conflicts and characterizations were trite. The actors did their best delivering shoehorned-in references and catchphrases, but it still didn’t land. THAT’s an unforgivable sin.
