If you're (rightly) horrified by the government aping Reform on immigration, why aren't you outraged by it doing the far right's work by putting disabled people's lives at risk with assisted dying? Does your concern for minority groups only exist when it fits your own narrative?

will never forget not being allowed to run a disability-related story because I couldn't find a Tory disability activist to comment...

and being asked why that was

caveat: the BBC and most of its journalists are brilliant

I always thought the fundamental bias wasn't left or right wing. It was the blanket assumption that the status quo was somehow neutral, which is only true if, well, you're one of the people it works for

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

I love the bbc and I think the staff really care about impartiality but let's not pretend the leadership is too woke

Not to be controversial but imagine thinking the BBC is too left wing

This is how it feels to be a disabled woman desexualised by the world In her book The View From Down Here, Lucy Webster argues that for disabled women, there is an additional battle to be seen as women at all.

Great to commission this from @lucywebster.bsky.social – an extract from her book The View From Down Here which is out in paperback today.

Should be utterly embarrassing for BBC News to be congratulated by Richard Tice. It's not impartial to be doing the work of the *checks notes* far right

Imagine if it was the Greens

Autistic volunteer 'sacked' after family asked if he could be paid Tom Boyd, who has autism, was a volunteer at a Waitrose in Cheadle Hulme for four years but when his mum Frances asked if he could have paid work he was told he could not continue

I'll be talking about this on @LBC at 11:30

Live from my bed because contrary to popular opinion disabled people actually work hard and take our jobs seriously

This is a really key chart. Look at the difference between concern about immigration between Lab to Reform switchers and Lab to LD/Green/don't know switchers.

The latter group is five times larger.

The Joy of Disability Culture's Punk Side Honestly, everyone should be exposed to it.

'Disability culture' may seem oxymoronic to some, but to me it means good books, radical community care, and a whole lotta punk

In response to a question about gay marriage, Farage says kids needs a mum and a dad, and straight relationships last longer

Vile, obviously, but also fascinating for a so-called man of the people to be so far from public opinion on this

It’s not too late: the House of Lords can still protect disabled people from this dangerous assisted dying bill | Lucy Webster MPs passed it without sufficient safeguarding. If there is any point to the upper chamber, it is to give the legislation the open debate we need, says political journalist and author Lucy Webster

The House of Lords has the opportunity to do what MPs failed to - and change the assisted dying bill to protect disabled people

Here's to hoping the House of Lords gives the Assisted Dying Bill the scrutiny, safeguarding, & open debate it failed to get in the Commons. Lives -- of disabled and ill people, already under attack in this country -- are quite literally at stake.

Today the House of Lords begins its scrutiny of the assisted dying bill

Lords committee suggest parts of assisted dying Bill β€˜sidestep parliament’ The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill will come before the House of Lords for its first debate among peers on Friday.

A crucial Lords committee thinks the assisted dying bill gives an unconstitutional level of power to ministers

The Lords now has the power to do what the Commons failed to - properly scrutinise and amend this dangerous bill
