Congratulations @dndi.org on this major milestone! A powerful step forward in the fight against sleeping sickness.
Hospitalised patients with advanced HIV in Kinshasa faced frequent invasive bacterial infections, with different pathogens driving community‑ vs hospital‑acquired cases.
⚠️ High ceftriaxone resistanceand emerging carbapenem resistance raise major concern.

📢 HIV clinics in Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire & Nigeria largely maintained ART access during the pandemic — but viral load monitoring was heavily disrupted and didn’t return to pre‑COVID levels a year later. 👇 journals.lww.com/jaids/fullte...
World Childhood Cancer Day
In Uganda, 3,000 children develop cancer each year, but only 1,000 are diagnosed, often too late.
With the MUST, we're working to change this.
🎯 Goal: A locally adapted early diagnosis algorithm to improve care.

Yellow fever & minimum vaccine doses
500 IU works in adults — non inferior to the standard dose.
👶 In infants, it’s different: a Kenya/Uganda study shows 500 IU fails non inferiority.
👉 Adult thresholds ≠ infant thresholds.

Using surveillance data from MSF’s Bentiu vaccine study, we evaluated the performance of the tests. The Assure RDT showed good sensitivity (86%), outperforming PCR and specificity comparable to ELISA (94.7%).

In @malariajournal.bsky.social we report that after ten years of molecular surveillance in Chad, SP-AQ used for seasonal malaria chemoprevention remain largely effective, though rising markers of partial resistance underscore the need for ongoing monitoring.

Fragile and conflict affected settings: New AMoCo findings show post abortion care is mostly satisfactory, but communication, respect and confidentiality remain major gaps—especially for adolescents and women with less education.

Lassa fever vaccination strategies
A new vaccine‑impact modelling study shows that targeting adolescents and adults could deliver the greatest health‑economic value per dose
👉 though the most cost‑effective strategy will depend on vaccine price.

In Koutiala, Mali, 41% of <5 children referred from community to reference health centers never completed the referral
Main barriers: transport, distance, perceived costs, lack of follow-up.
▶️Strengthening referral systems is critical for timely care.

As cholera outbreaks surge and global vaccine supplies remain strained, WHO prequalified Euvichol-S in 2024 to meet demand faster.
➡️ For the first time, a study assesses its real-world effectiveness in a one-dose regimen during an epidemic in South Sudan.

How can HIV prevention be made more accessible to the populations most at risk?
In Malawi, Epicentre and MSF are conducting a study to document the introduction of CAB-LA among sex workers, a group particularly at risk of HIV infection.

Lung ultrasound (LUS) shows promise in TB diagnosis
➡️High sensitivity, comparable to chest X-ray, but lower specificity
✅Valuable where radiography is unavailable

New randomized, controlled trial results @astmh.bsky.social show longer intervals (6 & 12-month) between Euvichol-Plus® may be considered an alternative to the recommended 14-day regimen in adults and children. A promising option amid vaccine shortages and delayed 2nd doses.
