Biker and techie. Very old. Lives in Wales, in a crumbling pile of rocks in the vague shape of a house.

Cogent and to the point, as ever. A philosopher for our times.

What safeguards do we have against Bluesky also going to ratshit?

Capitalism is based on money in politics. That's Game Over, right there.

As long as Americans allow it to happen.

That's not going to happen. The American people need to take back control of their country.

Craven would be a much better word.

Call me vindictive if you will, but I want him investigated with a view to prosecution if he has committed offences.

This doesn't end when Trump dies. He's the figurehead, not the brain.

I'm not a legal expert (not even here in the UK, much less the USA), but doesn't this open up some great requests for disclosure of evidence in, well, just about every future legal case involving the US government?

For a very long time I've been saying it's not so much "trickle down" as "deluge up". Never has that been more apparent than the last few years.

Gloves essential :-)

We tried, but they get snagged on the sharp leaves.

I think it probably is, yes.

It has long seemed to me that security enforcement in the USA has exactly the same problem as office work here in the UK.

MS Word and Excel are ubiquitous, so office workers are just assumed to know how use them. This results in some *dreadful* output.

Guns in the USA are much the same.

That is a truly dreadful sign-up process, but I battled my way through. Perhaps you can use the money to hire a decent web designer and membership team?

There is an option for card details rather than bank account. It's difficult to see how one could have a monthly/yearly subscription like this without some form of payment method?

Sorry, "Join Now". Dreadful short-term memory.

Weirdly, that "Join" button just takes you back to the original front page. Scroll down a bit, there's a "Join Us" button.

I do wish that there was some sensible way to link up Green Party and Labour votes.

16% for Reform is dreadful. Are there that many angry, unthinking people around us?

07.10.2025 10:46 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh hell no! We don't want them back. Can't you just get the pest exterminators in, or something?

07.10.2025 10:44 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Almost certainly. The question is, does it get the result that you expected? And will it give the same result next Wednesday?

I'm struggling to decide whether their playbook is 1933 Germany, or 2006 Idiocracy.

Thanks. It's worked out fine for me and my family, fortunately, but I suspect probably less so for a lot of others :-(

Shit, I'm sorry. I'm immune to nuance, sarcasm, any form of hints, and almost all subtlety that doesn't involve garlic. Life in the IT industry will do that to a chap.

05.10.2025 20:30 β€” πŸ‘ 18    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Doesn't really matter. Just the front cover and title will have given 30% of the population serious validation and probably hard-ons.
We're fucked.

Here, too. I was only selling inside the UK, but to international companies. After 2016, they all stopped placing new IT projects in the UK, because none of them wanted the uncertainty and chaos. Pretty much killed my business stone dead over the next two years.

Yeah, but he still stood alongside Trump after the election. The man's just as spineless as the rest, however much you worship him :-(

I've always found the "All kids today are scum, not like in *my* day" declarations to be an excellent filter of people. You can pretty much guarantee that the speaker will also be tribal and unthinking in all other areas of life, so you can walk off and ignore them with a clear conscience.
