☀️ SUMMER SOLSTICE MOTH TRAP ☀️ Had a ridiculously busy moth trap, a real mammoth effort to pot and release but what a wonderful array of moths!
64 new species for the garden with my favourites being the Swallow-tailed, Miller & Ruby Tiger #teammoth

Last night’s moth trap produced 120:54, 22 nfg. Some of my favourite firsts included a gorgeous Privet Hawk-moth, a shiny Burnished Brass & an Elder Pearl micro #teammoth

I know what you mean, they are exotic looking but I think that adds to the excitement when you see such a rarity 😁

A few photos from a recent survey I helped to carry out with @savebutterflies.bsky.social looking for our smallest butterfly, the SMALL BLUE (Cupido minimus). We found 27 which was a good result & indicates a healthy colony 🦋 #butterfly #smallblue

My 5th Moth Trap (ever). My expectations were low with a cool, cloudless night & as expected the yield was low: 6 moths: 5 species. However, two were new for my garden, one the Rustic Shoulder-knot & the other, the lovely Lime Hawk-moth, my first ever Hawk-moth 💚 #teammoth
