well well well, sounds like I'm on team Wheeler & Link
the second and third laws of library science are RIGHT there
Since last year, the US has publicized a visa policy that targets & threatens people who study & report on online harms.
Yesterday @knightcolumbia.org & @protectdemocracy.org filed a lawsuit challenging this censorship policy on behalf of @thecoalition.bsky.social knightcolumbia.org/content/tech...
in case you've never seen it, this is Roger Ebert on The Mummy
Here's a thread featuring clips of key moments from the DC Metropolitan Police body camera footage of the March 17, 2025 DOGE raid on the US Institute of Peace that I obtained as a result of my FOIA lawsuit:
There's a broken cuneiform tablet from the Old Babylonian period, nearly 4,000 years ago, which preserves a tiny portion of a dialogue between two friends.
It feels a bit like the conversations I've been having for the past week, so I wanted to share it.
This is your reminder to rest.
Because if you don't, you still will.
But this time you don't get to choose when or how long.
dude i never thought of the (re)cataloging option
when we fight, we win
My name is used as "expert" reviewer on Grammarly, so I uploaded an unpublished paper and asked "myself" for feedback. I got generic writing advice.
The feedback from their fake version of @katestarbird.bsky.social and *colleagues* also gave generic advice about using examples.
I'm insulted.
I can't compete with this.
(And yes, I am never not mad at Robert Moses)
I have subsidized solar and public transit! 👍 And my husband has an ebike. (The car is old, and gas, but we don’t need it much.)
Simply extraordinary and chilling. The MD delegation is directly comparing the Baltimore ICE facility to animal shelters (the shelters are better) and slave quarters.
NEWS: This morning, Maryland lawmakers, including Sens. Chris @vanhollen.senate.gov and Angela @alsobrooks.senate.gov made an unannounced visit to an ICE holding facility in Baltimore. They are scheduled to talk about what they saw soon here: www.cbsnews.com/baltimore/ne...
Part of Trump’s mass appeal (and of why he’s so dangerous) is that he really seems to share Joe Barstool’s worldview that there are no complex problems: Everything has a simple brute solution, which previous leaders were somehow too stupid or weak to deploy.
NO NO NO YOU DON’T

there's so much bad in the world but there's also people who lift up and carry an elderly bat around every day so he can pretend he's flying again, and that's the part of the world I think is worth fighting for
If grammarly isn’t suggesting that I just buy the brother laser printer already, it hasn’t captured your voice
we need more places where he can exist in public without being expected to buy anything, not fewer
Ugh, I just read a pretty good novella with execrable copy editing too. I feel your pain.
I’m running my first 5k on Sunday!!
(You locals know the one, lol 🍀)
On some level I can’t believe I’m in good enough shape that the difference is immaterial to me. It wasn’t that long ago I couldn’t really run a mile.
Also, oddly enough, today’s run was, for me, blisteringly fast.
Barely ran last week because so much work travel + inevitable bad cold. Felt good enough today (not 100% but whatev) I figured I’d put down a mile and it would be slow and stiff, but the next thing in my plan was 2km and that’s basically a mile, right?? TWO KILOMETERS BABY
God I love nerds
