That’s the key 👍🏽 and a key problem with critique among artists. Especially among themselves because too often people will tell you what they would do. But what I need from professionals is input about the problem. Not THEIR solution 🤷🏻‍♀️

Am I disappointed? 😔 Yes of course! But that is okay. 😇 And I am grateful, that i have the option of staying home and taking care of myself. There are a lot of times where I had to push through and just keep going. Not this time.

My body had other plans. I am struggling a bit this week and only managed to be there once for 2 hours. My body needs a lot of rest right now, so I had to change my plans. So instead of toasting the final festival evening I am home being patient with me, myself and my health.

I used to think networking is all about attending premieres, sipping champagne trying to get the attention of someone important 🫣 And I struggled with that for a long time – no surprise there, right?

Well I get that it’s not practical (most of the time). In fact I believe the best feedback comes from testreaders and editors not every other publisher. I just think it is good not to be affected too much by these kind of rejections.

I believe that is necessary in order to go and stay on that ride! A personalized rejection could at least contain some helpful pointers. Standard letters are useless to ponder.

Mit Balkis durfte ich erkunden, was es bedeutet, als Kind wütend zu sein. Dass diese nicht automatisch etwas schlechtes ist. Und vielleicht hilft Balkis in Zukunft anderen Kindern etwas besser zu verstehen, was für ein starkes und wunderbares Feuer in ihnen schlummert.

Ich hätte als Kind solche Vorbilder gebraucht. Beispiele dafür, wie schwierig es manchmal sein kann, mit den eigenen Emotionen umzugehen. Gefühle zu spüren, statt diese ständig zu unterdrücken. Auch wenn das heißt, dass es nicht immer einfach ist.

Genauso wichtig war mir, diese Wut nicht negativ zu besetzen. Ich wollte zeigen, dass es okay ist wütend zu sein. Ich wollte zeigen, dass es möglich ist wütend zu sein und sich nicht davon unterkriegen zu lassen.
