At our town hall on Friday, hundreds turned out asking the same questions we're all asking: Will we get paid? Will we keep our healthcare? Will our democracy survive this chaos? 

I hear you. I see you. And that is why we are fighting to protect our democracy and our communities.

Catharyne, a healthcare worker, made it plain:

Republicans created a healthcare crisis that will cause hospitals to close, healthcare costs to jump, & lives to be put at risk.

But instead of working with Democrats to address that harm, Republicans have shut down the government.

Yesterday, I asked Americans from across the country how a DOUBLING of monthly health care premiums would affect their families.

Here’s what we’re fighting for: Americans could see their premiums raised by an average of 114 PERCENT if Congress doesn’t extend Affordable Care Act tax credits. A 60-year-old couple making $85,000 will see their health care costs increase by $22,600! Totally unacceptable.

I spoke with federal workers fired under Trump and his allies. Now, with Russell Vought pushing to expand those purges through a GOP-led shutdown, they’re sounding the alarm about the lasting damage these reckless firings could do to the civil service.

It's time for Republicans to support a bipartisan budget that protects health care so we can reopen the government.

With complete federal government control, Republicans control this government shutdown.

I do not believe we should yield to Trump’s demands without getting some protection for all those about to have their health care access to a physician denied or seriously impaired. (1/2)
