A Greenwich councillor has resigned from the Labour Party, saying that she “cannot look residents in the eye” following the government’s cuts to benefits.

“I refuse to support a party that balances the books on the backs of the poor," Majella Anning said.

Did it yesterday.

I'm a lifelong Labour voter. I've campaigned for them. I've walked the streets & knocked on doors for them.

But if they vote this travesty through I will put all of my energy & campaigning experience into ensuring my local labour MP isn't re-elected.

This is blood-boiling. Charles Rogers was awarded the Medal of Honor in Vietnam after being wounded three times leading the defense of a position.
