I don’t think there will be immediate implications for the war in Ukraine, at least not in the short term.

Was im Heizungskeller drin ist, ist Privatsache. Was oben aus dem Schornstein herauskommt selbstverständlich nicht. Es verursacht zunehmende Schäden und gefährdet Gesundheit und Leben, und ist deshalb verbindlich im Pariser Abkommen, in der EU und im deutschen Klimaschutzgesetz geregelt.

Das finde ich spannend und es wirkt richtig auf mich. Trotzdem würde ich die Logik dahinter gerne besser verstehen. Thema für einen detaillierten Text? @ulfbrue.bsky.social

These learning opportunities have to be leveraged to attract more private, non-governmental support to Ukraine. Private institutions have to arbitrage our governments' (Europe is not much better) bad decisions to steer them into the right direction.

I am no expert, I know too few details, but if we were to seriously think about regime change in Iran in a broader strategy, we have to honestly acknowledge that we would have to stick to such a strategy for around 30 years. 4/4

The point is not that the U.S. should promote democracy for its own sake. The goal, rather, must be to help Iranians achieve normalcy. For the region to be at peace, Tehran must transform itself from the headquarters of an insurgency back into the capital of a country seeking to build peace and prosperity for its own citizens. A stable, law-abiding Iran will help build a stable, law-abiding Middle East. But in order to achieve that, Iran needs not a new dictatorship but self-determination and a pluralist government that respects basic rights. Right now, the Trump administration is not trying to build one.

We were trying to transform Afghanistan, but I think we didn't dare to speak it out loud. And we were afraid of how much time would be required for such a task: at least 30 years—the time it takes to educate and encourage a new generation. 3/

There were plenty of opportunities to try something different. In 2009, at the time of mass protests in Iran, the Obama administration could have put a human-rights campaign at the heart of its Iran policy, promoting the people, ideas, education, and media that might have helped change Iran from within. Das VG Köln hat die Einstufung der AfD als „gesichert rechtsextrem“ im Eilverfahren vorläufig ausgesetzt. Das ist keine Rehabilitierung, sondern eine Zwischenentscheidung bis zum Hauptsacheverfahren. Über die Rechtmäßigkeit wird erst dort endgültig entschieden.
