26 May 1939 | Dutch Jewish boy, Carel Gans, was born in Amsterdam.

He was deported to #Auschwitz from #Westerbork in February 1944. He was murdered in a gas chamber after arrival selection.

30 March 1917 | Czech Jewish woman, Marta Kafková, was born in Suchodol.

She was deported to #Auschwitz from Theresienstadt ghetto on 23 October 1944. She did not survive.

As much as we should remember those who passed away, we should also try to remember those who survived that horrible camp.

15 February 1914 | A Hungarian Jewish woman, Serena Stein, was born in Varsolc. She worked in a nursery.

In June 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz together with her 3-years old daughter Frumet. Most probably they were murdered in a gas chamber together.

Separation of powers. Checks and balances. Congress, only Congress can make laws & change laws. Congress, placed first in the Constitution, made the most powerful branch in the federal government. On purpose.

Why? Because our Founders feared a king. Our Founders feared a tyrant.

22 January 1925 | Dutch Jewish girl, Frieda Henriette Citroen, was born in Amsterdam.

She was deported to #Auschwitz from Westerbork oin September 1942. She did not survive.

19 January 1940 | A Hungarian Jewish girl, Sarolta Grünwald (pictured left), was born in Csongrad.

In June 1944 she was deported to #Auschwitz and murdered in a gas chamber. She was 4 years old. Her two years older brother Sandor was killed with her.

We are saddened to learn of the death of President Carter. President Carter’s legacy extends beyond his 4 years serving in office, but also includes his post-Presidency work to build democratic institutions throughout the world.

18 December 1941 | 11 Polish Jews, prisoners from the Penal Company located in Block 11 at Auschwitz I camp, were shot dead.

They probably tried to take advantage of the bad weather conditions and escape from the camp.

Sometimes when life seems overwhelming, it is best to focus on what matters most in life and do what you can for that part of your life.

I studied the the Eastern European front in WWII and there were not many prisoners of war. Many Soviet soldiers fought to the death due to the brutality of the Nazis and their view on the Slavic people. This shows how the Germans treated soviet soldiers similar to the Jewish people.
