The food is absolutely banging. The people are nice. But the Old Quarter was overwhelming. The traffic is a nightmare. Nahhh.

I mean, I agree with that. But it’s only one aspect of it. Hanoi was just over-stimulating and not really my cup of tea. I enjoyed parts of it though!

It pains me to say this, but I am really not vibing with Vietnam.

Maybe it’s the bad weather, but it’s the first place on the trip I’m struggling to connect with.

Supposedly because of a greater surface area and quicker to melt and start digesting in your mouth.

The amount of stories I have about Grab drivers in Thailand. My favourite one is when a driver picked up his girlfriend along the way and she rode with us to our hotel 💀

Last time I’d stayed in a guesthouse that looked very similar, but that was near Jordan station and was ran by a cute old lady.

This time… massive nope. Just spend the extra money and book a proper hotel 💀

The place had no windows. There was a washing machine that looked like it hadn’t been used in ages, but had bags of people’s clothes in it…

Went to look at the reviews for the guesthouse and the lowest ones confirm a lot of our anxieties about the place. Plus it had cockroaches 🤷🏻‍♂️

I usually look at the lowest ratings when I book hotels. I guess I must have forgot to here.

Yeah think I was told you could have dailies in for 18+ hours or so, or at least for the brand that Specsavers did the time.

At this point, I was texting the bf to ask if we should change hotel, as I was paranoid they could hear us 😂

So we splashed out on a hotel down the road 🤷🏻‍♂️

I couldn’t ignore the red flags of the guesthouse. It felt so unsafe 🚩

I look at my phone in bemusement.

They then send me a photo of me looking at my phone bemused.

I knew there was CCTV as there was a monitor (bottom right of the photo, out of frame) that showed all the cameras - except the ones that had us in.

It was all creepy af.

We decided to wait inside with our bags, as the corridor outside was small and like a furnace, and the ground floor was full of people harassing you.

The WhatsApp number then sent me this picture of the bf in the corridor.

Arrived in Hong Kong today. Went to our “guesthouse” on the 13th floor of the dodgiest building ever.

Rang the number on the door. No answer. Sent a WhatsApp. No response. Rang again, a guy answered and gave the door code.

Time was 13.35. Guy said leave the bags and check-in was at 14.00…

Are they dailies or monthlies?

Cos it’s almost impossible for me to forget to take them out (with monthlies), since my eyes get so irritable with them in for 12+ hours.
