I appreciate the reporting AND I want everyone to stop using criminal records as a stand in for whether people should or should not be harassed and deported.

This update includes information you may find upsetting. Please take care when reading.
From today, it is with a heavy heart that we announce trans girls will no longer be able to join Girlguiding. This is a decision we would have preferred not to make, and we know that this may be upsetting for members of our community.
There will be no immediate changes for current young members, but more information will be shared soon. Most adult roles - including unit helpers, district helpers and administrative support - are already open to all, so we are confident that no volunteers will have to leave the organisation.
Girlguiding believes strongly in inclusion, and we will continue to support young people and adults in marginalised groups. Over the next few months, we will explore opportunities to champion this value and actively support young people who need us.
We stand in solidarity with trans girls and women.

i hope every single person who still buys harry potter merch or engages with that franchise is happy that they're literally making girl guides cry

girl guides uk have been forced very much against their will to exclude trans girls. full statement is here: www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-...

This is just my opinion, but I don't think departments need to change their strategy for reading or grading student work.

Departments need a strategy for responding to harassment and attacks.

This shit is just planned out and orchestrated out in public. Her mother is a fucking conservative podcast host and lawyer, this isn't some kinda quirk or accident, this paper was written with the express purpose to gin up another culture war about trans people in academia and it's working.

Two pages of a zine, titled "Gowther's Penance" in gothic script with decorated initials. There's a bunch of handwritten text on each page, along with a medieval-style drawing of a dog and of a princess with a thought bubble containing the lips zipped emoji.

A hand in a black compression glove holding up a small zine titled "'Lerne anodur lare' : Nonnormative Rhetoric in Sir Gowther... and National Library of Scotland Advocates MS 19.3.1." The text of "Sir Gowther" is written in a gothic script with decorated initials, and there's a small smiley dog drawn in the empty space to the right of the text.

every trans person i see post about the OU suspension knows that the suspended target is trans & a grad student, & has an innate awareness that this is about purging trans employees. every cis person i see thinks the target is a rando professor & that this is about giving conservatives good grades

can we recognize how the TA handled the entire incident thoughtfully and flawlessly, not that they should have to. but the contrast between their behavior and the student’s is night and day

the primary thing that TPUSA provides to young conservatives is a blueprint for weaponizing the abject cowardice of university administrators against individual teachers and instructors, and university admins should take a long look in the mirror and think about what that says about them

As someone who worked in higher education for a decade, this doesn't surprise me in 2025 but it wouldn't have surprised me in 2012 either.

As a TA, a student once called a professor a "feminazi bitch" in a paper and she asked me not to fail him because she wanted to avoid administrative fallout.

someone was basically like (paraphrasing) "despite there being no historical evidence for this I'm going to say Julian of Norwich had this modern diagnosis. let me go on pubmed and find more baseless pseudoscienctific retroactive diagnoses for medieval mystics who were all craaaaaazy [derogatory]" 🫠

a medieval manuscript-style drawing of Patience and Lacey in a garden, with Fitz on the path behind them. Patience is crouching on the ground, slippers and the skirt of her green dress in one hand, and an uprooted marigold in the other. She’s looking up at Lacey, who’s reaching out to take the marigold and looking down at Patience fondly, wearing a simple blue dress and cloak and a white veil. Fitz, behind them, has a shocked and emotional expression on his face, and looks like he’s been surprised. He’s wearing a simple blue tunic and brown leggings. The background is a wild-ish garden full of flowers and herbs, with a castle and the sea just barely visible against the horizon. There’s an ornate pale blue border around the image, filled with flowers, blue and purple scrollwork, a tiny Nighteyes the wolf, and a tiny stone dragon.

It was unprecedented. They said it couldn't be done.

Yet, here is a quadruple #nudivember extravaganza featuring the enigma that is Hallaxa cryptica, the living banana chocolate dessert Notodoris minor, the tiniest dragon Favorinus tsuruganus and the glittery orange sugarlump Acanthodoris lutea.

all 4 of these are ads for nora.jewelry where the background is a dragonskin aventurine kiln photo

this one has a variety of glass wreaths: green bumpy ones with baubles that look like abstracted real wreaths, dichroic wizard wreaths, and thin "mosaic" wreaths made from melting multiple kinds of twisted glass cane together into a ring. they're all either about 3 or about 6 inches

collage collection: a variety of bolo ties, pendants, a heart, a paw and some cufflinks all made from overlapping spiral cane. i get cane that has a twisty pattern and chop it up with more of different colors and combine them and melt them together into a single solid piece, resulting in something that really reminds you that though glass is solid now it was liquid once and remembers what it is like to flow

the cluster collection, which consists of murrine (patterned cane that shows images or designs through the middle when sliced; if you've ever bought cookie dough that you slice a log of and see a picture of a snowman in the middle it's the same basic concept) that i have clustered together in either an abstract blob shape or a circle with a hole for a cord. i don't heat these to high enough temperatures for them to be totally flush, they are bumpy, but rounded
