Hur tror du att det känns när ens jobbmejl tror att jag vill skriva ”hora” istället för höra då?

I’m aware we write that Cenococcum and other ascos may fall outside the proposed spectrum. Could they be placed on another axis in the trait space?

I think it could work in a retrogressing system (if we ignore the fertility axis from Fig. 5). Retrogression is a positive feedback where N limitation becomes so strong that C delivery from hosts decreases. Couldn’t that open up a niche for fungi with high CUE, e.g. Cenococcum?

Graphical abstract of a scientific paper showing drawings of a helicopter fertilizing a forest, a harvester cutting down a tree and a tree stump next to a pine sapling with ectomycorrhizal fungi on its roots. In a 2 panel figure data on the organic layer carbon stock in fertilized and unfertilized forests is shown. In the left panel right after clearcutting, where there is a larger carbon stock in the previously fertilized clearcuts. In the right panel 4-13 years after clearcutting, when there is no longer a significant difference in soil organic layer carbon stocks.

New paper out in @jappliedecology.bsky.social ! We studied carry-over effects of nitrogen fertilization in Swedish production forests. 🌲🧪🌍

A trait spectrum linking nitrogen acquisition and carbon use of ectomycorrhizal fungi Trait spectra have been used in various branches of ecology to explain and predict patterns of species distributions. Several categorical and continuous traits have been proposed as relevant for ecto...

Should we move beyond categorical traits in ectomycorrhizal fungal ecology? Fifth and final publication from my PhD is just out in @newphyt.bsky.social:
