I've tried recording with a DAW but it just doesn't feel the same as playing something live. It feels very inorganic compared to my old hardware with an integrated sequencer. Sometimes I just want to play to vent steam and the DAW's limit really stifles that spontaneity.

synths and midi controllers are all the place. I got one for $150 and it came bundled with more pads than my tiny brain has time to go through. not sure if it's better than the old korg workstations from the 90's that went for $5k.
