Today was an amazing day, Christian Zidorn and I took the scientific staff and last year students on a tour to G. Pohl-Boskamp GmbH & Co. KG
The students got a great insight about the workings of regional pharmaceutical company that has been in the heart of Schleswig-Holstein for decades.
Holding lectures is one of my most valued duties. Teaching the fundamentals is often not highly regarded but laying a solid foundation for the understanding of nature and life itself is so important and rewarding.
One of the big events for me in my first 6 month was to invite all mass spec users of #CAU for a common workshop on software approaches to align data.
It was an enourmous pleasure to host the scientist at our pharmacy institute!
Shortly after I started I had the pleasure of receiving a new instrument to the lab. The Sciex x500R qTOF arrived and is already running day and night to produce a lot of data.
Getting the machine into the lab was another story for another post… #massspeclife

I really get the frustration of a lot of people with their PhD time, but I think most people make the mistake of looking for reputable groups instead of good PIs and advisors. Reality is that very often a good PI who knows how to train PhD students is most valuable
