I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.

At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.

On Teen Vogue: It's an amazing publication full of talented journalists. It offers so much value. It's clear the monied interests in media aren't interested in preserving that value, especially if it threatens the status quo that undergirds their wealth. Capitalism and journalism are enemies.

I'm seeing a whole lot less outrage for the journalists of color who have been systematically discarded at places like NBC and CBS (and across journalism, really) than the response to Jimmy Kimmel's 5-day suspension.

Seriously, my friends, go and get a hobby that isn't perennially online! I cannot tell you how immeasurably better my life is thanks to stuff like reading, crochet, learning languages, ice hockey, and live music.

While writing this piece, what made me sad was seeing how many people of all ages, but especially Gen Z-ers and my fellow millennials, were lamenting that they didn't have any hobbies aside from browsing social media. The algorithm really wants us to be boring as all hell, doesn't it?

I haven't seen Tron or The Morning Show but I definitely agree with you. I enjoyed the film while watching it but the more I thought about it the more it rubbed me the wrong way. But yeah a handful of other black women did not feel that she was a caricature, which honestly surprised me.

It's interesting because I've spoken to a lot of people about the movie and some very strongly feel this way and some just do not. Like I've spoken to black women who really love this movie! It's an interesting rorschach test

really enjoyed this. tackles my issues with the film and unearths a couple others. I wrote in my review that the depiction of this character is racist, and I'm surprised more critics have not mentioned that in their praise of the film!
