Glad to hear the encouraging news. I hope this all gets resolved on its own very soon!

You can tell that LotR was written by an academic because Gandalf disappears for like 20 years doing research to answer a single question.

Skycam image showing the evening sky with a pink hue on the right side, which corresponds to the northern direction.

Just a hint of pink on the skycam tonight in the northern direction.

Cover page of book by D. A. Varshalovich et al. on "Quantum Theory of Angular Momentum".

"Quantum Theory of Angular Momentum" by D. A. Varshalovich et al.

This book is chock-full of useful identities, some that I haven't seen anywhere else. Recommended.

Skycam image captured with 60 second exposure shows a line of light across a dark sky.

The skycam captured a helicopter flying overhead as the streak of light on the right.

Just found out python supports operator overloading for user-defined objects. Well then *rubs hands*

... Turns out breaking unitarity introduces noise into calculations, who woulda thunk it.

Mathematical derivation, ends with "QED !!! Finally!"

Today's small victory after days of struggling with Racah algebra and incompatible definitions from different sources.

Plot of energy as a function of iteration number, looks chaotic and trending up overall.

That's not the convergence behavior I was hoping for from my code. Needs more work...

Plastic model of spaceship engine block, showing part not fully inserted into place.

Work in progress.
Now the instructions say I have to insert that little pin at the bottom into a hole in the railing, but in order to do that I have to pull the whole thing apart and undo all the work I just did to make enough room to insert the pin. ๐Ÿ™„

I was going to use an old NUC pc I had lying around to do some light computations that don't need to be constantly supervised.
Unfortunately, it looks like it just died on me. Time to look at other options, maybe an RPi5...

My linocut portrait of Maria Goeppert Mayer on 11โ€ x 14โ€ white Japanese paper shows the nuclear shell model energy states in lime green up the left side. Next to this are the magic numbers rising vertically (sums of available energy states): 2, 8, 20, 28, 50, 82, 126 and associated elements for nuclei with those numbers of protons: He, O, Ca, Ni, Sn, Pb with the final hypothetical element unlabelled, all in dark blue. A 3/4 portrait from the chest up in dark blue is all the right side. Mayer has short hair, and wears a dark blouse with long thin white scarf draped around her neck, untied. Below the magic numbers are increasingly large representations of nuclei with increasing numbers of gold and white nucleons like clumps of balls.

Happy birthday to German-American theoretical #physicist Maria Goeppert Mayer (1906-1972), the 2nd woman to win the Nobel Prize for #physics. ๐Ÿงช๐Ÿก๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿ”ฌ #histsci As the series of increasingly large atomic nuclei grows with additional nucleons (protons p & neutrons n) from hydrogen to transuranic elements ๐Ÿงต
