The thing that strikes me about replacing voice actors with AI slop is that, in the scope of a big AA/AAA production it barely saves money? These people aren't even full time. It's immizerating people because immizerating people is your goal, nothing more.

No. Empirically not. A tool empowers people; helps people. It solves an extant problem. Generative AI in creative mediums is being used as a cudgel that diminishes and eliminates people, and the only "problem" being solved is fiscal.

Heads up for folx playing Arc Raiders: Embark has openly stated (in an interview with GamesRadar+), that the game uses the same AI voice tech as The Finals, and the CEO has talked about using AI to generate 3D models from YouTube rips.

A huge, huge proportion of all techbro startups (not just in AI) can be explained by this sequence of events:

1) someone was lonely
2) they wanted to not be lonely
3) they did not consider trying to meet people in person
4) they did not consider whether their personality was why they were lonely

I use Obsidian to about .1% of its potential and it's still incredibly useful to me. I can't imagine what you can do if you know wtf you're doing

I think the funniest part of this is that Destiny's main competitor and one of these few 10+ year old games, Warframe released before Destiny 1 and has now effectively outlived both Destiny 1 &2 and is actually thriving.

- Buy Bungie for double their actual worth
- Ask Bungie for help with service games
- Bungie says to cancel them all except Concord
- Pre-acquisition projections turn out to be lies and Destiny 2 craters
- Marathon on track to be Suicide Squad tier disaster
