Also a reason to network with other freelancers: a time may come when they get offered a full-time translation gig and need to hand over their customers to a fellow translator
We often hold ourselves to higher standards than our customers are asking for!
Such a good feeling! Love that sense that you’ve contributed to other people understanding (without having to go through what you did)
1) instead of thinking the source text is poorly written, question whether there’s something I haven’t understood, 2) don’t be afraid of technology, because the tools I used at the start of my career are nothing like the tools I’m using 25 years later
