It’s crazy to me that we as a society can kill a development project we don’t like or enact an ordinance and whatnot but stuff like generative AI can just take over significant portions of our everyday lives and no one has any say in this whatsoever. Fucking depressing

I asked how they know what's human-written, and they said that there's one thing that will reveal AI slop without error, and that's the author not knowing their own creation. A real author can talk about their story for hours. They love to elaborate every character, every twist. every detail. Because those existed in their head long before they ever made it to the paper. They were loved before they were written. AI slop wasn't. It was just vomited into existence. Someone who generates their story with AI will never bond with their story the way real writers do. Once again, Szczecin proves it can surprise with ideas that are both meaningful and practical.

A Canadian five-cent piece (a nickel) shows that it is magnetic by sticking to my magnetic watch charger.

Are Canadian nickels still magnetic? I have one from 1977 that stuck itself to my watch charger. I think they were 100% Ni back then and thus magnetic, whereas US nickels were (and are) 75% copper and 25% nickel. Not enough nickel to attract the magnet.
