And the irony is that all of this publicity, the advertising revenues, the scoring of political points, the moralizing and memorializing & condemnation; all of this encourages more assasination, not even as extreme political act, but as spectacle. We consume the events, reproduce the distraction.

Our children's future, our very nation & it's aspiration to a democratic republic are threatened by a ruthless elite, and the best we can do is to watch this stupid man cut down by a lunatic and make a big media circus out of it? What are distraction! What an empty, silly circus! Enough.

The sad political fact is that Charlie Kirk was not worth assassinating. Just a ridiculous creep who preached against the civil rights movement & against transsexuals at a time when Americans are suffering from inflation in the price of consumer goods, housing, energy, healthcare, & everything else.

Consider that the assassination attempt against Trump appears to both left and right skeptics as having been staged. A publicity stunt, intended to redirect the news cycle away from Kamala Harris. The #NectarineNero is brilliant at manipulating the news cycle, and pathologically needy for attention.

You might say that publicity is the space of a massive collision. The political system, the advertising system, and the star system smashed into each other there, and the debris field is the wreckage in which we now dwell. That would explain why the president is now a reality TV show host.

How do we read the profits from this assassination? As a symptom of essential threats to democracy: commodification, advertising marketing, commodification, & above all, publicity, the latter profoundly amoral because there's no such thing as bad publicity. The more sustainable shock, the better.

What's most disturbing to me about the Charlie Kirk assassination is how profitable it has been. Think of the news sources (both left and right), advertisers, internet influencers, the politicians and parties that have profited from this in some way. Think of the revenue it's generated.
