Here is a link to submit testimony on the specific bill (SB 1601-3) where those $17M in cuts have been nested in the -3 amendments. The bill's subcommittee meets Tue. at 9am to discuss it (and others):

The number of kids who live within a mile of school and walk there has gone from about half of kids 50 years ago to closer to 10% today, and a 2017 study cites "traffic-related danger" as being the second-biggest barrier to walking just behind "live too far away." These cuts will make that worse.

My first day at Sen Merkley's office my boss Claire Griffin asked me "What's your job here?" I fumbled some nervous reply. She responded "No your job is to get Jeff Merkley reelected. You do that by making him look good. You make him look good by doing good. Now go do good."

I'll miss you Claire.

Two notes: 1) I re-uploaded because the audio wasn't great! and 2) I am talking about national leaders here. Many of our local leaders have been even more direct and clear about this stuff than I am being here. I appreciate those folks very much ❀️

Statement on Illegal Iran Attack and Our Leaders' Responses

"If we expect young people to come out and vote for candidates... who claim that they understand the pressure and traumas of this generation and others, then you need to show up in moments like these like you mean it. And that is not what I am seeing."

Netanyanu and Trump are old men desperate to cling to power in countries where they are increasingly unpopular. The murder of Iranian children, families, and innocents at their hands are a sickening attempt to distract from their many failures. Congress needs to act immediately. No war in Iran.

Shout out to Hollywood Impress Printing! I rode 9 miles to their shop earlier today on 122nd kinda near Costco, and the proofs for these signs looked amazing. Excited to see the final, bigger sign. Also, stickers! Also, no, I didn't go in that door, it's just where the bike rack was 😭😭

Shoutout to @sightline.org's @andersem.bsky.social, who just testified in support of SB 1521 to reform and fully fund inclusionary zoning, to the House Rules committee this afternoon.

Multiple bills endorsed by PNW are continuing to move forward ahead of the end of the legislative session. #orleg

Honda's New E-Quad on Portland Streets

I can't wait for these new Honda Fastport E-quads to get tested in real-life conditions on Portland streets. The possibility of replacing vans and trucks w these is seriously cool. Local company B-Line already working w Honda to bring them in.

PBOT staff went above and beyond for tonight's District 3 open house on transportation funding! Hot take: they need money, and they should get it. Curious how the proposals presented will change based on feedback they get from Portland's 4 districts, because I heard/saw a bunch of solid suggestions.

Rob has done a heroic job putting together and making the case for why the City needs to follow its own rules and not allow a drive-thru where one hasn't been for over 3 years.

Rip City, Not Rip Off β€” $600M Public Money, $0 Back Portland owns the Moda Center. The city is handing $600M to a billionaire and getting nothing back. Here's the deal that makes it pay for itself.

The organizer of www.ripcitynotripoff.com, Edan Krolewicz, is testifying, saying the amended version is progress but "the Blazers are staying, the amendments confirmed it. We can stop negotiating from fear, and start negotiating on the terms of the deal."

They are limiting testimony to 60 seconds; good thing I always make sure to keep my comments snappy! Honest, short testimony is most effective in my view, and allows everyone to share their thoughts.

Portland Trail Blazers President Dewayne Hankins said he wants a "market rate partnership" with this funding bill, which specifies funding from the State and requires it from Mult. Co. and the City of Portland, but does NOT have any requirements for the Blazers to pay into it. At least not yet.

Good morning! The Moda Center bill (SB 1501) is being discussed right now in the Oregon Legislator. I am on deck to testify virtually; in the virtual room I see Portland City Councilor Elana Pirtle-Guiney, among others. Follow along here ⬇️ olis.oregonlegislature.gov/liz/mediapla...

- The state is not responsible to pay "cost overruns" unless they come from changes requested by the state

These are all very modest changes. One noteworthy omission is any legally binding financial commitment from the Trail Blazers' ownership.

- The "joint authority" created by this bill (made of "public bodies") get to review the renovation plans before dispersing the money
- The state will not pay unless both Mult. Co. and the City of Portland make "binding and substantial commitments" to the renovation
