The number of kids who live within a mile of school and walk there has gone from about half of kids 50 years ago to closer to 10% today, and a 2017 study cites "traffic-related danger" as being the second-biggest barrier to walking just behind "live too far away." These cuts will make that worse.

My first day at Sen Merkley's office my boss Claire Griffin asked me "What's your job here?" I fumbled some nervous reply. She responded "No your job is to get Jeff Merkley reelected. You do that by making him look good. You make him look good by doing good. Now go do good."
I'll miss you Claire.
Two notes: 1) I re-uploaded because the audio wasn't great! and 2) I am talking about national leaders here. Many of our local leaders have been even more direct and clear about this stuff than I am being here. I appreciate those folks very much β€οΈ

"If we expect young people to come out and vote for candidates... who claim that they understand the pressure and traumas of this generation and others, then you need to show up in moments like these like you mean it. And that is not what I am seeing."

Netanyanu and Trump are old men desperate to cling to power in countries where they are increasingly unpopular. The murder of Iranian children, families, and innocents at their hands are a sickening attempt to distract from their many failures. Congress needs to act immediately. No war in Iran.

Excited to see the final, bigger sign. Also, stickers! Also, no, I didn't go in that door, it's just where the bike rack was ππ

Shoutout to @sightline.org's @andersem.bsky.social, who just testified in support of SB 1521 to reform and fully fund inclusionary zoning, to the House Rules committee this afternoon.
Multiple bills endorsed by PNW are continuing to move forward ahead of the end of the legislative session. #orleg
Just a stunning day for seeing Portland from your bike!! As evidence, please enjoy a 90-second video of me riding over the Hawthorne about 45 minutes ago. This city rules π²β€οΈ

I can't wait for these new Honda Fastport E-quads to get tested in real-life conditions on Portland streets. The possibility of replacing vans and trucks w these is seriously cool. Local company B-Line already working w Honda to bring them in.

- The state is not responsible to pay "cost overruns" unless they come from changes requested by the state
These are all very modest changes. One noteworthy omission is any legally binding financial commitment from the Trail Blazers' ownership.
- The "joint authority" created by this bill (made of "public bodies") get to review the renovation plans before dispersing the money
- The state will not pay unless both Mult. Co. and the City of Portland make "binding and substantial commitments" to the renovation
