Would Reform aka the PPP (Putin’s People’s Party) be worse? Yes. Obviously. Catastrophically worse.

‘Better run than many areas of Europe” - he’s not wrong, if by ‘many’ he means Russia & Belarus.

I believe that any kind of atrocity or genocide denial is evil. You clearly don’t. I find it rich when someone who has effectively been a stooge for a mass murderer (I mean Corbyn rather than Owen, I’m not directly criticising the latter) accuses other people of genocide denial.

Ah, is he dead already. And no, these conflicts & mass murder of millions of people are not an order of magnitude less repulsive than what happened in Gaza. But thank you at least for proving my point.

Ah, you think only PM’s have responsibility for their words & actions? It’s an odd take, but at least Tommy Robinson will love you I suppose.

The same applies for Corbynites who long denied the scale of civilian deaths in Ukraine at the hands of Russia, became a channel for the crudest Russian propaganda tropes, failed to provide support for Ukraine, & largely ignored the atrocities in Syria & Iraq and war in Sudan. We will never forget.

It was an excellent speech, and he’s an impressive figure. But Van Der Leyen made an almost equally excellent speech the day before which didn’t get much attention.

It's not voters fault.

It's the fault of a media which deliberately spreads misinformation.

"Ukraine must be saved, helped to defend itself"

Mikhail Kasyanov, who served as Russian prime minister from 2000 to 2004,said that Ukraine is not guilty of the war Russia started,so it shouldn't make concessions. He also added that Putin is considered a war criminal in Europe&by European leaders

… can’t guarantee all of those, then we need to arm, and fast. The last time Russia was crazy enough to invade W Europe (not counting 1939) was in 1920 - luckily the Poles saved us. What are the chances of the Russians being stupid enough to try a third time (unless Trump remains & eg AFD get in)?

1/ It’s improbable Russia army will invade Western Europe provided we can guarantee that A) democracy survives in the US & the US does not become an ally of Russia B) no large European country is taken over by an extreme right party stooge of Russia like Orban C) Ukraine doesn’t collapse. If we…/2

If the threat were only from Russia then attack might seem improbable, but with the rise of the far right unfortunately it may not only be Russia that we have to defend ourselves from.

History can repeat itself? The last time there was a war (in effect) between Ukraine and Russia it ended with the invasion of Poland and the 1920 Battle of Warsaw. Western Europe was lucky that the Poles on that occasion won (the “Miracle on the Vistula”). Try reading Bulgakov’s The White Guard.

OTOH the US is becoming increasingly impotent in this situation. Their leverage is as a paid arms supplier, and Europe can do better to invest money in itself by buying arms from itself. And hopefully Trump will be incompetent enough to be gone at some point not too far away.

100% agree. But he is also feeble & out of his depth. Probably fortunately for us all.

From the books I read I understood FDR was so ill at Yalta that he wasn’t able to participate effectively & eg handed Poland to Stalin (with Curzon/Churchill’s help) when that was totally unnecessary & to the Soviet’s surprise. So probably Trump is doing the same (only without Curzon’s help)

Incredible operation: The Ukrainian Security Service (SSU) attacked a Russian Kilo-class submarine in the Novorossiysk seaport using an underwater drone known as “Sub Sea Baby.” According to the official SSU statement, the submarine sustained critical damage.

Russia’s disturbing human ‘safaris’ Violating the laws of war, Russians have created a sick game of hunting civilians with FPV drones near the frontline. We take you behind the scenes, to the people most affected.

Good morning readers; Kyiv remains in Ukrainian hands.

In the towns near Ukraine's frontline, Russian FPV drones hunt civilians, a new tactic called a "human safari".

Yana, who lives in Kherson, regularly sees these drones and the damage they cause.

Another war crime by terrorist Russia. It deliberately killed two unarmed civilians and their dog with a drone strike while they were walking along a road carrying a white flag in the Kharkiv region. There were no military targets or positions anywhere nearby. Why? Just why?

We take no joy criticising a young left-wing UK political figure who has often spoken up for workers' rights and progressive causes. But these barely coherent comments from Zarah Sultana on Ukraine sum up much of what is wrong with her wing of the left www.instagram.com/reel/DQT62ys...

And by the way, Melitopol IS Ukraine.

We believe that Yana and other Mariupol citizens will be liberated eventually.

For those who chose to live their lives as criminal slaves can’t suppress free people.

The centre of Kherson being hit today with unguided & inaccurate multiple launch rockets designed to saturate an area. In this case the centre of a city full of civilians.

Jamal Khashoggi, the Washington Post, and the Cost of Speaking Out As Saudi Arabia hosts comedians and courts gamers, the silenced voice of Jamal Khashoggi still echoes.

Washington Post dismantled the platform Jamal wrote on. Discarded the fellowship they created in his memory.

They fired me unjustly for speaking the truth.

But I’ll never stop talking about my friend, writer, and amazing human, Jamal Khashoggi.

RIP, Jamal.
