This is an empty threat. He's not going to bomb the oil infrastructure unless he intends for the Iranians to bomb all the Arab's oil infrastructure, in which case Hormuz doesn't matter and no one exports oil for months to years. Then the Gulf Arabs all go bankrupt and have revolutions.

Can anyone explain how this is not a quid-pro-quo bribe?

Especially since US law demanded the transfer of TikTokโ€™s US operations as the one way to avoid a ban.

Big donors to the president got the company as the govt forced the sale, and he gets $10 billion.

If not a bribe, why so bribe-shaped?

Nuclear deals negotiated by Obama: 1
Nuclear deals negotiated by Trump: 0

Art of the Deal guy isn't actually a very good negotiator is he?

If the world goes to shit, we need to remember one thing. We aren't each other's enemies. The enemy are those who did this to us.

Iโ€™d love Goldman or any other pushing price charts to go over the path of deescalation that leads to their timing changes.

But yes, Art of the Deal guy certainly had a well thought out plan.

It's been 68 days since Donald Trump invaded a sovereign state, abducted its leader, and declared the US will "run" the state indefinitely

It's been 12 days since Trump started a war (his word) against Iran without congressional approval

No House member has filed articles of impeachment for either

OPINION: I asked a former Trump official to justify this war So the case for Congress is, once we have gone to war, if they donโ€™t like it, they can remove the money?

Congress does not have a constitutional role in the declaration of war. Congress has a role in cutting off funds for wars, which it has threatened to do. And the president doesnโ€™t have to get permission.

But yes, you can debate, you can decide. Thatโ€™s his choice in how he wants to do it.

I mean, here I will quote the Constitution: โ€œThe Congress shall have power to declare war, grant letters of marque and reprisal, and make rules concerning captures on land and water.โ€

Behold the intellectual might of the conservative legal movement

Great work by NYT showing Trump's war is the most unpopular ever. Supports my argument (see below) that in some ways the public rejection of Trump across the board is a very heartening development:

Like clock work. Whenever Republicans run the government, they trash the economy for working people. Prices go up. 10 of the last 11 recessions were under Republican Presidents.

Good for the mega corporations and billionaires, bad for everyone else.

Jake Lang, the white supremacist leader of this violent rally, was pardoned by Trump after participating in January 6th.

Imagine if Democrats had pardoned someone who then led a violent attack on Republican mayors?

It'd be 24-7 news. Our media institutions all bend the knee to the right-wing.
