Book Drive for the Appalachian Prison Book Project - At Frederick DSA Convention, March 30th 2-5pm in the Downtown Frederick Library. Bring Paperbacks, dictionaries (language, medical, legal), LGBT, westerns, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, Wiccan, how-to books. Avoid hardcover books, stapled books, spiral bound books, explicit content (porn, violence), maps, books with highlight/notes/tears/yellowing. Eduction is a Human Right! APPB mails free books to people imprisoned in WV, VA, TN, KY, OH & MD. Since 2000, they have mailed over 70,000 books!

Our Washington County group is leading the charge to donate much-needed books to incarcerated people. If you’re planning to attend our chapter convention, please help us to give resources to incarcerated persons who need them. #mutualaid #empowerment #bookdrive

Record number of people with mental illness waiting in Maryland jails for hospital beds Never before had more people accused of crimes in Maryland, but deemed too mentally ill to participate in their own cases, been left languishing in jail than in February.

Mounting lawsuits, sky-high overtime bills, and countless Marylanders not getting the help they need: this is the price we're paying for dangerously low staffing levels that make it impossible to open up more beds.
