Three thumbnail sketches in my sketchbook. The top one focused on shapes, the middle focused on value, and the bottom on colour. The subject is my zucchini plants that are just starting to flower!

Planning the next studio painting with little thumbnail sketches. This lets me iron out any composition problems before getting my precious 100% cotton watercolour paper out!
Then I can enter the flow state while painting 😌

Two gouache studies in my sketchbook. The top one is from November last year. It shows a section of a rocky sandstone island in the ocean. The bottom one is from a hike at Wilson's Promontory (Aus). I found a boulder that was almost a perfect cube so I had to paint it!

My poor neglected gouache! I had to get it out last night to alleviate the guilt
