The answer - at least for me - is exporting. After trying almost all outliners, I sticked to Zavala. It keeps outlines in a proprietary database, but allows to export them easily. There’s even a shortcut made by the dev. I think there’s no easy way, we are those who must take care about our data.

My recent reflections about my recent experimentation.

I had my fifth or sixth account there at this point. All of them I canceled in the past, mostly because of those technical things I don’t understand (maybe I don’t want to), and folks who aren’t willing to understand what non-technical people want from social media.

Somehow this place looked like a good one to share that feeling. It’s a significant internal conflict for me, to be torn between the need to be a part of something and the need to be outside of everything.

From time to time, I feel that deep need to be more social, more visible, to feel contented. And then I try to join some of those networks, and it works for a moment, and then I’m off again. On and off, and my need isn’t fulfilled at all.

If I want to stay in touch with people I know (or knew), I have to be where they are; the other direction seems impossible. The question of whether I want / should keep staying in touch with them still remains open.

So as it goes, I’ve been struggling.

Social media has recently occupied my mind more than I’d wish. After many years, I’ve rejoined those biggest ones to see what’s going on there, who’s still using them, and… I feel like nothing has changed at all.

Doing any kind of April Fool’s pranks while the world is in the current shape is way out of place.

Okay. I think I’m ready to try to engage a bit more here. I really do want to have social interaction on the internet in a more or less healthy way. 🙂

It happened to me two years ago, that I needed to find a new job. The thing that I was disappointed most was the networking thing. It doesn’t work like some promise. Keep calm and stay sane is the best advice we can give others in this matter. Well, it works in other areas as well…
