Here in UK, near as I can work out, $8.34/gallon is the cheapest, and in most places it's at least 10c more, and rising.
And people in isolated areas have seen the price of oil for heating DOUBLE overnight. Government has been urged to intervene in this.
Farmers' costs rising everywhere.

*Excuse me, Taxpayers around the world ...
Petrol. Energy. Plastics. Transport. Fertilizers. Food.
Death and destruction.
Because nobody had/has a plan.
Because Trump cancelled the Obama setup for controls on nuclear.
No effect on the regime.
No freedom for Iranians.

Sorry, is the time-limited offer for sanity or for visiting?
Wrong answers only.

Trying to convert £sterling per litre into dollars per gallon but it's after midnight and I need my sleep.
Just think "national debt" and you won't be far out.
(Cheaper here than elsewhere. £1.32/litre till it hits)

Great book.
But scones of any description are a far-off memory - too cruel!

Nothing about more support for expectant parents, better midwifery training and support, more nurseries, more teachers, more affordable housing ... etc etc etc?
Thought not.

Strange Structures Found Lurking in The Blood of People With Long COVID A hidden physical change in the body may be helping to drive the prolonged malaise some people experience after contracting COVID-19.

Microclots and neutrophil extracellular traps merge to form structures that may contribute to thrombosis and atherosclerosis in patients with long Covid. While this research is in its early days, it may pinpoint not only a diagnosis of long Covid but potentially a therapeutic target.

Unfortunately, the US government is ignoring the refusal and is still flying in to Fairford here, and to Diego Garcia, plus sites in Spain and across Europe.

Not just illegal.
Downright treasonous.
And very, very stupid.

Sad, but here in the UK they broadcast his speeches and everyone switches channels.
We can read up later whether he said anything alarming - if we can be bothered.

I like to be sure people know when I'm insulting them, so best to use the translations or stick to Scots.

But thanks, my German vocab is sadly out of date.

Yeah, catch him learning his 16-times table to cope with ounces to the (lb) pound.
Six shillings and eightpence was one third of a £pound, and you can't have that now.
Just heartbreaking, isn't it?
Daft ha'p'orth (sorry, halfpenny's-worth).

Text as in the post but spiralling in from outside to centre on the concrete support. Below, a hazy picture of the town is overgrown by ivy. A view showing the poem, bridge and river from further back.

On the buttress beneath the A75 bridge over the River Cree at Newton Stewart, seen from the footpath on the other bank:

My waters always know their course
To river mouth from hilltop source
Man's destination is unkent
Until his journey is full spent
