Poetic thought for today, as I'm revisiting Rafael Campo's essays in AMA journal. Poetry has many health benefits.
Poetry is code, and math, heartbeat and emotion. Learning is by its very nature personal, intersectional, and relational. Arts are essential.
It's National Poetry Month, & I've been thinking a lot about the future of education. Barbara Kingsolver wrote a powerful poem called "Beating Time" about the removal of poetry from schools, and I read it here:

What do you find beautiful?
Long story short, BEAUTY has always been a draw for me, and it's not at skin or surface level.
Inherent, intrinsic beauty... what it means to be truly beautiful... this is part of what I'm thinking about right here, right now.
I resisted joining FB for about 10 years before that, in major part because I didn't find the site "beautiful" in its values and operations. I had written a critical piece called "Facing Facebook" for the Providence Journal; I then guest lectured about it at Brown University (circa 2008).

I just changed it, replacing it on FB to my Bluesky profile as I migrate my time and attention here.
What motivates you, and what do you find most beautiful these days? Is there awe or wonder there?

I took these photos years ago, as I was designing and planning how to launch my business. I made my lean canvas models (1-pg) and my full biz plan (100+ pages). Walking the path, seeing that flower/weed, it felt like so many metaphors. I took the photo of the dandelion. Walked around it. #MindWise
