Reeves addresses global uncertainty arising from Middle East conflict - has potential to completely upend economic forecasts.
βIt is incumbent on (us) to chart a course through that uncertainty, to secure economy against shocks & protect families from turbulence that we see beyond our borders.β

It's a common refrain for ministers to note Nigel Farage's absence from the Commons, but the stats do seem to back it up. So far this year he has spoken five times and voted seven times. As a very rough, smaller-party comparison, Ellie Chowns of the Greens has spoken 46 times and voted 24 times.

Sobering to think that we would have joined a reckless war in the middle east over the weekend had Badenoch or Farage been PM.
And we would be refusing to embrace an energy transition away from reliance on a deeply unstable region.
Starmer's sobriety definitely an asset in the last few days.

My thoughts today are with the family, loved ones and all those impacted by Sarah Everardβs murder five years ago.
Sarahβs murder by a serving police officer shocked and horrified the entire country and rightly sparked an outcry about the national epidemic of violence against women and girls.

As reiterated on BBC Three Counties this morning, I support the PM's mature and measured action in the Middle East.
Iran must end these reckless strikes and return to the negotiating table. Our priority remains diplomacy - and the swift, safe return of British nationals.

Will banning the US from using them make Spanish citizens safer? The airfields they would use are in Spain, so hardly targets of opportunity. Ours bases were being attacked anyway and civilians are being put at risk in the civilian centres Iran attacked, so what is there to lose?

Summing up she says we must stick to the course, reject austerity, invest in public services, tackle the cost of living, & keep stability!
It really does feel like her plan is working. The forecasts and data show EVERYTHING is moving in the right direction.
Keep going Chancellor & Labour!

If itβs true Reform UKβs Treasury spokesperson Robert Jenrick told a business audience last night that renewable companies are "screwed" if Reform get in, it tells you everything about their readiness to inflict national self-harm in pursuit of ideological war on climate action.
