Two great sort of #ghostsigns! Both on Otterspool Prom #Liverpool. One of the few remaining classic North West Water logos, such a great design! Also classic British Telecom 1980s era logo on an inspection hatch cover. Rich source of ghost signs on the prom!

Ste brings to life a motorway junction I know very well. Never looked at in this way though!

Great memories of Young Farmers dances at Salmesbury village hall back in the day. A village of many talents!

Union Bridge over the former St Helens Railway (formerly St Helens and Runcorn Gap) near the Dream installation. The bridge in the background is the M62 motorway bridge I’m usually driving over. I don’t know why it took me so long to visit another fabulous disused railway.

Great thread from Chris both about British defences and how combining skills helps unlock things that we might otherwise miss.

Great combination of skills in concrete and genealogy! It’s interesting to see what things you know look like from a different perspective

Great, will do! I’ll be running past it first weekend in March, but won’t have time to stop it being the St Helens 10k and all πŸ˜‰

Visiting the world famous glass-making heritage of #StHelens at the World of Glass. Fantastic to see so much industrial archaeology in a local museum! Great glass blowing demonstration too @stelingard.bsky.social

An old upright metal girder dotted with rivet heads, cut off at around head height. Metal railings extend out from each side.

Great spot Roy! I’d say from the second photo in particular that the wear pattern of the paint is consistent with wartime signs. Good confirmation if there is the remains of a bracket underneath.

#usaaf Air Service Command distinctive unit insignia (DUI), a kind gift from my good friend Carl. Pretty sure it’s #ww2, looks like it was originally pin backed and converted to clutch at some point. If anyone knows the difference between this and the 4-blade version, I’m all ears!

It’s a cracking spot Ste! Chester has a wealth of ghost signs, some of them now sadly gone including the EWS on the walk up from the station.

Always thought it had the air of a cinema crossed with a grand department store. Nice to know what it was!
