The 3-day-old baby gorilla went outside today for the first time. Gladys may be a first-time mom, but she’s already a natural. Visitors can stop by Gorilla World on their next visit in hopes to get a glimpse of the new baby, but they will not be on a set schedule of when they will be out.

Happy 1st Birthday to Daisy the bonobo! Like chimpanzees, bonobos share 98.7% of our DNA. But unlike gorillas or chimpanzees, bonobos are a matriarchal society. They are female lead, and female bonds take priority over male bonds.

Once the head & upper portion of the body is in the tube, the keeper will hold the exposed back end of the snake to ensure it doesn’t back out or squeeze all the way through the tube. This ensures the safety of everyone involved & allows for keepers & vet staff to get a closer look at the snakes.

The process of tubing is painless for the snake and does not require sedation. We have several different sized tubes that can be used for our various snake species. We choose a tube that the snake can fit into, but can’t easily fit its entire body through.
