🧵into thinking a student is significantly improving by looking at the raw score increase, but the percentiles often show that students are not closing the gap. For example, here is a case I’m working on now. Her raw scores look great if we aren’t thinking beyond words correct per minute,

🧵eligibility meetings, or parent advocacy consultations and am handed a list of raw scores, without percentiles attached, as proof of success. I now carry norms tables for the major CBM suites with me so I can look up percentiles on the spot. We can be fooled (mostly not intentionally)

🧵When RTI language popped up after the reauthorization of IDEA in 2004, many schools adopted CBM suites with nationally normed ORF measures (DIBELS, Aimsweb, etc.), which is excellent, but only if we know how to interpret the data. More often than not, I end up in data meetings,
