Understanding Long COVID, Supporting Patients, Advancing SolutionsWhat Is Long COVID? Long COVID is a serious chronic disease that can affect multiple body systems and significantly disrupt daily life. Long COVID affects 5–7 % of U.S. adults—roughly 18 million people, according to the CDC. Long COVID remains an ongoing public health challenge requiring continued research, clinical innovation, and coordinated response.

RFK Jr and HHS have launched a new website dedicated to Long COVID.

Please remain skeptical: They will offer more junk science than real solutions, and use this as another opportunity to spread misinformation about vaccines.

Begging these people to read my paper on how we should be evaluating evidence in a way that makes actual sense.

Top hit on Google News for the past few hours if you search “gender ideology” — a term outlets like CBS have started using without scare quotes, is a presser from the far-right group responsible for the “LGBT-free zones” in Poland on a panel held at the UN between Manhattan, DNH & ex-gay groups.

Everyone who is basically competent with computers knows about grep. It's ridiculously fast. It'll have been used many many times in the production of training data sets for LLMs to produce a kinda shittier and slower and less reliable version of grep. Not that grep doesn't have its limitations too.

I keep seeing people in comments threads marveling at how good Claude Code is at doing code which will "take developers jobs" and I think the average person really doesn't have a fucking clue how good a human being who knows how a computer works is for comparison.

Also One Piece is a cartoon about a bunch of people LITERALLY being gay and doing crimes. That's the whole fucking premise of the show, yes?

Also anytime Christian motifs show up in Anime, it's almost always in association with the ANTAGONISTS. This is also the reason why most JRPGs end up with you killing God or fighting some evil Church.

Reynolds signs Iowa law barring local trans civil rights protections City and county civil rights commissions may no longer protect Iowans from gender identity-based discrimination under a law signed by Gov. Reynolds.

Within just a few hours of this morning's genocide warning from the Lemkin Institute, the 4th Circuit ruled that trans adults can have our care banned and be forced by any means to "appreciate our sex", and Iowa made it ILLEGAL to protect trans people.

I'll go one further: It got this bad because it was considered more impolite and inappropriate to SAY it would get this bad than it was to misgender a random enby. That's it. It's really just that simple.

It wasn’t a lot to ask in retrospect but it was more than people were willing to do. So yeah. No one could have known it would get this bad except all the people who were jumping up and down screaming “it’s going to turn out like this”

The language of "quality" in EBM is a significant comms issue. What it suggests is not what it means, nor can that meaning be easily derived from the label.

"The majority of medical practices, including those recommended in WHO guidelines, are predicated on low- or very low–quality evidence."

Employer-based health care is the reason we’re not getting Medicare for All. Subject the entire 18-64 population to the ACA marketplace, and they will get the picture that they can pay relatively less in taxes than they do in premiums and get a more efficient product.

What’s happened since then is that Terry Schilling convinced red state legislators that if you all pass anti-trans laws, corporations can’t boycott half the country like they could boycott one state. And he was right. We need cis people to step up, but it’s not 2016, and the tactics have to change.

Yes, which is why they use a combination of evolutionary psychology & TERF arguments about “socialization”. Janice Raymond’s views on intersex people basically amounted to if you cut the dick off of an infant it will grow up to be a woman, but if you cut the dick off of an adult, it’s a man.

It is, in fact, this bad, and Democrats like Gavin Newsom will not only not stop this, but will aid and abet it in the name of "reconcilliation" or "being normal" or some crap. We know this because they've said this.

Either care, or don't. And if you don't, then I'll see you in Hell.

The America he wants IS a Christofascist authoritarian state in which anything that he doesn't understand or like is banned, and laws don't matter because those are annoying and make him share.

It's that simple. At least he's honest about it!

I mean hell if we wanna talk generational precedence, how about we deport every single Mormon? Or Southern Baptists? Those guys only exist because they wanted to keep owning people.

But see, those are details. Insignificant details. Because the world Andy WANTS is one where HE doesn't see Muslims.

Because yes, paperwork does magically make you American. That's how immigration works. And yes, while we're at it, there's plenty of Muslims in America whose families have been American longer than Andy's has. America has no state religion, in part because it's always had faiths besides Christians.

I'll give Andy this: he has managed to encapsulate reactionary fascism in six words. Six words in which he says something so blatantly false that he might as well be saying pigs fly, and in which he describes the reality he WISHES were true and will fight to make real. (1)

Three different Trans friends, all creatives, productive, well-loved people with years in our communities told me they feel they have no choice but to leave the USA for their safety.

They have to start again because of bigot scum, the worst people in our country.

ECCC was fun and I had a wonderful time.

But there was a storm cloud. When I complained about Trump with my white straight cis friends, we were all sincere and concerned.

But I talked with many Trans friends, and it’s so much worse. They are in fear for their lives.

The problem with health libertarianism a la MAHA and co is that it's fundamentally opposed to the evidence.

You can't easily reconcile the fact that much of health is outside of individual control and the desire to remove all government intervention from public health.

How many dead children is an acceptable cost for learning a lesson we already learned?

None. Even one preventable death is one death too many. And these grifters? At this point, that number is in the millions and growing.

On some level, I think the most lucid of the anti-vaxx folks know this. They are just gambling that it will be someone else's kids doing the dying. When it is their kids that die, they show shock and denial--but never guilt or admission. So let me say this:

I wish I believed in Hell, just for them.
