It got a little awkward with us afterwards, but hopefully she has something to chew on. We’re part of a very small expat community here so we will have to interact in the future.
That’s when I told her about being nonbinary myself and what it means to me (which honestly isn’t that far off from her world view) and that those rumors are bullshit, that the far-right want to put women back in the kitchen so to speak, hence the strict gender binary shit they’re pushing so hard.
“What do you mean?” I asked her, and she proceeded to recount what she’d heard, that children have been forced to get gender reassignment surgery.
Today I was bonding with an older Chinese-New Yorker who has lived in Japan for decades. We were getting along great until she said the only thing she agrees with T-ump about is that nonbinary people have gone too far.
He said some horrible things to his wife (in front of their small children) and I stepped in. I took the heat off her for just a bit and had his rage directed towards me. I managed not to get hit, but the situation stuck with me. I wonder how she is doing.
Yeah I’m still thinking about the guy who tried to gender shame me the other day, how he thought that was the worst thing he could say to me. When that didn’t phase me, he threatened to hit me. There was more to the story. I was intervening on what I thought was about to turn into domestic violence.
Anyway, this is probably how Genesis P. Orrige felt. Jim Carey probably doesn’t give AF either. At least, I hope he doesn’t.
How it offends them that I don’t make myself hot to their specifications. Why would I even want that?
It bewilders me when a rando expresses that I don’t fit into the attractiveness category for them, as if this is something I should care about.
I personally find it delightful that folks have so many options with which to choose how they appear nowadays. Fashion, faces, bodies, eye color can all be methods of personal expression if a person wants it to be. Absolutely amazing how we get to express ourselves.
It’s interesting how many people think of other people’s bodily autonomy choices as moral failings, whether it’s cosmetic surgery, abortions, the decision whether or not to wear makeup, their hairstyle, fashion decisions, etc.

Yesterday I got into a bit of an IRL altercation with a wannabe bully. He tried to hurt my feelings by telling me he couldn't tell if I'm a man or a woman. Considering I'm nonbinary, it was not the flex he thought it was. 😂
