It's the Feast of the Queenship of Mary,who said yes & became the Mother of the King. Love this poem by Nicola Slee & my new little icon from Greece, Our Lady of the 7 Wounds. Each of them is related to human griefs around parenthood/caring that many of us have known
There's a lot of room in Mary ⚓

2) I have huge issues with how patriarchal views of Mary as the perfect, silent, sinless woman are used to oppress women in and out of the church but I know She's bigger than any accretion thrown at her and I love her for that too.

1) It's the feast of the #Assumption of Mary, Mother of Jesus today and we're enjoying some time in the garden together. This battered, kitsch, statue of Mary was in a church in Middlesbrough. She's saturated in years of prayers, pleas, & confidences & I love her for that.

Thank you. Calmly but still unresolved unfortunately. It's a terrible & inefficient system. I pity anyone vulnerable, without an advocate or a safety net when payments are delayed

On with the lippy & the sunflowers for a varied morning including Minster team meeting & Job centre appointment (on Brent's behalf) So it's a Mthr Jacqui/Mama bear kind of day I guess. Praying for calm in both roles ⚓ #cofepeeps #mamabear

This is a prayer space. It's the corner of a room with two small white cabinets. There are religious icons on the wall. There's a statue of Mary, Mother of Jesus, on one cabinet. On the other there are small religious carvings & two angel candle holders. Propped up on the floor there is a painting of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

May I pray for you today? Leave a message here or send a private message. I have a new painting, done by a friend, of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It's resting here til I find its place. It's reminding me today that God is big enough to hold anything we need to bring & that we are loved without limit.

It's the Feast of Mary Magdalene, Apostle to the Apostles. Strong, faithful & brave. Friend of Jesus. Last at the Cross, first at the empty tomb. Steadfast & strong & known by her Saviour. Annual reminder: she wasn't a prostitute. You fabulous women of God out there-Jesus knows you and your worth ⚓

Hoping you have a safe place & hoping you know God is with you in the tomb as much as the resurrection & is faithful always. Healing is not the same as getting better

I've always loved how the assurance of who God is sits at the centre of the whole book and informs it 'The one who made the Pleiades & Orion....' 5:8

I think they have a point tbh. I completely understand people's distrust of organised religion

definitely but also it's just a truth that there are differing beliefs. Tbh I've had more serious flack from people who say they are Christian

just felt odd rather than rude really
