Spring made a surprise attack last Friday.
On Thursday it was -2C and on Friday I could go cycling in the sun at 15C.

After a bike ride, when you have showered and had something to eat and drink, you're tired and fresh at the same time. That's what's left of your ride.

And of course this picture.

Lovely sunshine and little wind, perfect weather for a hike.

But clear skies in winter usually mean cold, so the hat had to stay on.

Great cycling weather today, dry, little wind, in short, a beautiful Dutch winter afternoon.

It became a round trip with the #Willier to Hoek van Holland. To the beach and back to Maassluis via the pier.

First time cycling to work this year.
This morning it was treacherously slippery and cold.
You have to put some effort, to get a nice photo.

A nice walk in the neighborhood to get some vitamin D.

I like to walk off the beaten path and sometimes you have to take some uncomfortable paths. The advantage is that you encounter new views and sometimes meet another hiker.

I took a lot of #photos and videos and it was difficult to show the atmosphere of the entire city in 4 photos.

The great thing about #cycling compared to #hiking is that you have a greater range.
Details of your route pass your eye more quickly, which is why I think hiking is a better outdoor activity for taking #photos.
But cycling is my no1 outdoor activity, active and passive.

A large passenger ship is in the dock on the other side of the Nieuwe Waterweg, near Vlaardingen.
In the 1950s and 1960s, shipbuilding was booming.
Much of the work in the industry has moved to other countries, but there is still plenty to do in the port of Rotterdam in the field of shipbuilding and maintenance.
You regularly see large passenger ships passing by here on their way to the center of Rotterdam.

A farm between Vlaardingen and Maassluis.
After the land consolidation, the landscape of the Netherlands changed drastically.
fields and meadows that look as if they were designed on a drawing board, with inorganic shapes, as flat as a pancake.
In my youth you looked across the meadow from Maassluis to Vlaardingen.
In the 1970s, the planting of bushes and bushes started.
Now it is wonderful to relax on the beautiful walking and cycling paths.

Nowadays the harbor is mainly a historical attraction.

The lowest point in the area.
From here the water is pumped up to the Nieuwe Waterweg via ditches, steams and canals.
If this did not happen, half of the Netherlands would be under water.
Ingenious constructions have been keeping our Dutch feet dry for centuries.
In the past with the help of a windmill that drove the pumps, later it became steam, diesel and nowadays electricity that is partly generated with windmills :)
