It's really easy to get the good stuff when you're working around the rules rather than within the rules. That's always how it works. The ones following rules and norms get screwed up while the idiots going around rules always get the best of the best.

This is all to emphasize that leaving astronauts to stay on the ISS for longer than they're meant to is something that has happened across multiple administrations - even just because it was convenient. Nobody made a fuss when Trump did this but now things are a whole lot different.

Christina Koch's stay broke Whitson's record for longest single stay on the ISS. While on the station, she and Jessica Meir performed the first all-female spacewalk. This was something also to celebrate so of course there was another call. This would be DEI today.
