Invite me to something expecting an answer in 60s, and I will default to "no". Give me β₯10m (proportional to the scale of momentum change) and I'm much more likely to say yes
Lower level emotional circuits need nonzero time to let go of the previous plan and get comfortable with the new one
I don't necessarily endorse "no surprise parties", but I get it. I think I personally would be happier with a party planned for me with me in the loop than one dropped on me
I tend to need time to adjust if the day's momentum is [proposed to] change dramatically
But another data point: a different friend of mine, from a completely disjoint friend group, had come to the same conclusion, for similar reasons
Add to this davidad & the cloud of people vouching around him, and it begins to look like a certain body of wisdom around that game
Yes, it might be the personalities of the friends involved (ie, one's own ability to sandbox isn't the only thing that matters; also each person has their own sensitivities)

14.02.2026 01:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'll say that I also came to the conclusion that Mafia is a toxic game after a particularly triumphant win where I had my opponents in the palm of my hand. After the game I saw several of my friends hurt and ashamed for having trusted me, and realized that this felt much worse than winning felt good
14.02.2026 01:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I also have the "glide inches over a slope ballistically" dream, interesting

selfhood is a model that is useful for planning and task execution, and it's not ontologically real
Same as many worlds, imv. There are a bunch of different guys in the past and future, and some of them share some commonality with me. If they share enough that one of us can use and execute the other's internal planning ledger, as far as I'm concerned, they're me

But I'd need to go again at a different time of year to know
The little alleyways are pretty when it's snowing
10.02.2026 06:55 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So far so good; but I'm also here do to do some skiing. It's pretty cold in Tokyo right now, and I imagine it'd probably be more pleasant for walking around during spring or fall
Yesterday was sunny and brisk, though, and I managed to catch a mild sunburn

10.02.2026 05:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Doesn't help that there aren't standardized affordances / gestures like with 2D inputs (touch, mice, etc). Everyone has to invent their own interaction system
10.02.2026 04:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0But also I think 3D always faces an uphill battle due to the difficulty of navigation on a 2D screen, particularly on a phone. Few get this right
10.02.2026 04:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Three fiber isn't bad! IME agents are still unusably terrible at trying to do nontrivial 3D things though. You can't really blame them, they're still basically blind
10.02.2026 04:20 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I suspect that increasing the dimensionality of the visualization just to 3D would vastly improve the topology, but the web isn't very friendly to 3D, (or really software in general is unfriendly to it) so nobody does it

10.02.2026 03:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Projection to 2D destroys almost all of the proximity information. If we could see the full high dimensional space, those errors would almost surely be gone
