I can say poise unit squad isn't mandatory, as my successful run was Charge-focused revolving around W Ryoshu and Don. You need some absurdly strong turn 1 clash power or evades to get anywhere comfortably, though, and right now teams like Burn, Sinking or Tremor are going to have trouble.
