From the little I know about copyright law, if they don't proactively police their own IP then they stand to lose their claim on it. So they need to be making a visible effort to stop some/most/egregious cases.
Tbh, it's the same with YTers. We use tons of GW artwork without permission. They could dispute us into oblivion. We might think it's a bad decision for them to take, or unlikely, but they could.
I knew that when I started, which is why it would be silly for me to base my livelihood on it.
Honestly, I think if you make money by copying the IP of a large corporation you shouldn't be surprised if they take legal action against you.
I think it's great that fans sculpt bits, create new things etc. But anyone turning that sort of thing into a business KNOWS it may become a legal issue.
What's nice is that YT has quite good auto-moderation features. It almost always catches insults, slurs, links etc and I've added a lot more watchwords to it. So 'dealing with them' is really just having a laugh at the Held Comments list before deleting them!
