After a (very) long and (very) winding road, Dear Mr. Smallwood is almost here! I can't wait to finally meet this book in print in a few weeks.

Packing books this week feels a bit like wandering around on a journey. Picking up some books feels like meeting an old friend, the kind of friend you say “let’s get coffee someday, I’d love to catch up” and you mean it.

Poster advertising The Virtual Symposium of Pagan Thought and Practice.

It was an honour to present at the Virtual Symposium of Pagan Thought and Practice. Every presenter offered thought provoking questions and strategies for surviving perilous times. I asked the question: how do we care for each other in community.

Good point. Any photo can be a good prompts. I can see how it would be hard for your friend to separate the two art forms, it often is inseparable for me too.

Although not what you were going for, I like the that the starling is out of focus. It adds a touch of mystery. Or maybe it’s the kind of photo that could be a writing prompt.

Great advice, Thorn. Thanks for sharing. Community is a topic that keeps coming up lately, I think many people are feeling the need for greater connection outside of social media but don’t necessarily know where to find it.

Black and white photo. Woman in white dress looking up at a kite she holds.

Perhaps belonging is alchemy. An ongoing speculation of self. A magical process of creation of one’s true self.

This reflection is from a presentation I gave at the @labrc.bsky.social Alchemy Conf. last year. Thinking about layers, reimagining words, reimagining worlds.

Imagining fog through found poetry.

“Spectral encounters
intimacy
within we become
lost.”

Thinking about my getting lost in the woods of Newfoundland. Inspired by @oceanleaving.bsky.social “Weather: Fog Trouble” in Autoethnography & Theory at the Water’s Edge.

A book I return from over & over.

Was so good to catch up with my mentor @storiedselves.bsky.social today to talk about writing projects. I’m envisioning myself wandering in the fog more than 100 years ago, as my gg- aunt did when she was lost in the woods of Newfoundland. Inspired and ready to get writing.
