Seals and dolphins are often talked about in relation to the Tweed estuary, and plenty of Goosander already 'disappear' along the Tweed/Teviot. A friend of mine saw a heron shot on a different Scottish river. 'Control' is ongoing - the unseen face of predator persecution.

Next Tuesday I shall be giving my lecture on the Art of Laundry at Highgate Literary and Scientific Institution. What do 400 years of paintings, prints and photographs of women who washed tell us about the artists who made them and the society they lived in…?

The winner of the Jubilee Medal is Heather Coats! Heather’s support to BTO has been outstanding, including her surveying for @bbs-birds.bsky.social (she’s one of four people in Wales to have surveyed a square every year) & her dedication to bird ringing led her to co-found the Gower Ringing Group.

HHS is expected to appoint a special government employee to investigate climate and weather control, according to Gray Delany, former head of the agency’s MAHA agenda, who said he drafted the memo. The agency has interviewed applicants to lead a β€œchemtrails” task force, said Jim Lee, a blogger focused on weather and climate who Delany said helped edit the memo, which Lee confirmed.

Congratulations to Colin McShane, winner of The Bernard Tucker Medal! Thanks to his unique survey methods for roosting Jack Snipe, utilising a thermal imager, there’s been an increase in birds ringed. He’s inspired researchers & bird clubs, resulting in the deployment of 16 GPS tags. Thank you Colin

Congratulations to all the BTO Marsh Award recipients. Awards such as these are hugely important to recognise the individual and collective contributions made by many in our #UKbirding and #ornithology communities. It’s the people that make societies and organisations what they are.

Wrong to stop Maccabi Tel Aviv fans attending Aston Villa match, says PM Followers of the Israeli club will not be allowed to attend the Europa League game over safety concerns.

Starmer, such a gormless shell of a man. Anti-semitism doesn’t come into it. Maccabi fans notorious for their far right hooligan element. Israeli teams should have been been banned this season anyway.
