This change in predation pressure is linked directly to garden bird feeding see e.g. www.nature.com/articles/s41... #Ornithology #UKBirding

Agapanthus stalks and β€œskeletons” against a blue sky.

Before you cut everything back to make the garden look β€œneat” β€” pause.
Right now in Ireland and the UK, many insects are still overwintering inside last year’s hollow stems.
Most don’t emerge until temps are regularly above ~10–12Β°C (often late March–April).

β€œTidy” can mean destroying shelter. πŸŒ±πŸ¦‹

In the shop today, I was accosted by a stranger.
"George!"
"Hello."
"Do you work for the security services?"
"Yes, but you aren't supposed to know."
"Some of us reckon you do."
"Well, there's no arguing with idiocy, is there?"

Coming home, I was suddenly really annoyed. What the hell?

I'm begging the small local community groups in Ireland to please consider reframing their use of AI design work this way. The amount of drama and theatre groups in my sphere that I see using AI posters now just makes me sad.

This description of, among other places, rural Ireland, will come as news to any of us who had to grow up there before the power of these 'strong men' - priests, parish pump grifters and straight up criminals like Larry Goodman - was broken.

That Musk may end up in prison for his myriad crimes.

Strange isn't that so called British sovereigntists such as Nigel Farage & Kemi Badenoch are intent on outsourcing UK foreign policy to the US & Trump's unpredictable MAGA America. Not sure that is very credible, defensible or popular.

β€œFor all we know, we could be in the middle of Keir Starmer’s finest hour”.

Starmer’s critics say he is imperiling the UK’s special relationship with the US...

But is it Donald Trump who's doing the damage?

The number of commentators/journalists salivating at blaming Starmer for ruining the β€œspecial relationship” is genuinely pathetic

If anyone ruined it- if it even really exists- here’s a reminder of who did it.

'Blitz on RAF base'

You get the press enough people are prepared to pay for, I suppose.

Sad but not surprising to see Derek Gow throwing his toys out of the pram after being blocked from releasing Twite of a different non-native subspecies (and even in some places it didn't occur historically). A reminder of why this would fail 🧡#Ornithology #UKBirding 1/

Canada poised to become 'one of the largest suppliers of LNG in the world': energy minister | CBC News Canada's energy minister says the country is poised to become one of the world's biggest suppliers of liquefied natural gas, exporting as much as 100 million tonnes per year.

"It's important to remember here that #LNG is a fossil fuel," said Steven Haig (International Institute for Sustainable Development).

"It emits #GHG emissions, accelerating #climatechange, and simply put, it is not a climate solution in its own right."

Many MPs claim to care about nature.

Tomorrow afternoon will be the test.

On Tuesday 3rd March there will be a debate in Parliament on red lines for nature.

We’ll be watching to see who shows up. Empty seats will say a lot.

Tell us who you expect to see there tomorrow. πŸ‘‡
