These people are insane
@mairigougeoun.bsky.social assertions are not borne out by the facts. 1/4 of the #salmon that went to sea died before harvest last year, that is over 10.9 million fish. The suffering and waste is off the scale.

Great paper showing impact of extreme spring weather on woodland birds (in nestboxes). Besides rain/cold affecting nestling growth, in natural cavities another major impact of extreme weather is the nest hole soaking with rainwater, which can be a big killer. Broods even drown in severe downpours.
I’m really quite bored with podcasters and commentators trying to rationalise Trump…
Trying to unpick his degenerate ramblings as if he’s some kind of 4D chess playing war strategist
He’s a pillock surrounded by pillocks
If you’re bored too - you need The Trawl

Imagine how good you have to be at licking boots to stand out as an even bigger bootlicker than Kristi Noem. This dude is like the Michael Jordan of bootlicking.
Oh, well - I always suspected Ed Davey was a prick.
Another session curtailed by the weather but it would be churlish to complain too much:

Every year in France, some 1.7 million foxes, mustelids and corvids are killed (species formerly considered pests). In reality, this destruction costs more than the agricultural damage caused by the animals, without reducing it.
Jeez. This is damning
“There you have it in black and white. The Prime Minister Keir Starmer warned in the clearest possible terms that Peter Mandelson maintained his relationship [with Epstein] after the conviction.. there is no escape from this"
“Welfare standards across the industry are far too poor, and the enforcement of regulations is nowhere near good enough”

The death of Bob Crow being 12 years ago today really shocked me - I was pulling into a layby for a burger, some where around the Hants/Surrey borders when the news of his sudden demise came on the radio.
This is appalling. And not just because it's in the Cairngorms National Park.

Badenoch's performance at #PMQs was bad. But the most annoying thing was her claim that farmers are being clobbered by a fuel duty rise (that hasn't happened yet). Farmers use red diesel and so don't pay fuel duty.

Got in a one-minute check on the Janes Creek Common Sandpiper. Centre in pic. A true creature of habit.
No-one seems to know who Jane was. Info board bigly confident adjacent Pelican creek named after "extraordinary" birdlife once there tho'😉

The fact that a Koch Brothers-funded front group is attacking @peterhotezmdphd.bsky.social and me over our book #ScienceUnderSiege (bookshop.org/p/books/scie...) is such an amusing, unintentional affirmation of what we have to say about who is behind the right-wing war on science!
The idea that America isn’t for everyone who wants to be an American is something that makes my blood boil. Posting a photo of yourself as a Congressman smiling next to these words is wicked. It’s antithetical to the concept of America.
I remember where I was when I heard of his death - deeply shocked at the time.
I am doing a talk on the book on Saturday for Haslemere Natural History Society at 2.15 pm at Haslemere Museum. They allow non-members too but for a £5 donation. I will also be selling the book at a discounted rate.
Caroline Lucas has written a good book about England, as a Green politician leaving parliament, speaking to a broader audience of progressives and others. Zack Polanski sounds more attracted by Scottish/Welsh independence, but not so much by English independence itself, or even English identity.
A grand total of 1 (!) record ever in south-east Scotland, but I'm now determined to check those drabs just a little bit harder!
