Amazing night with @sandela.bsky.social and @nolore.bsky.social! I finally got to see two huge influences on my politics and understanding of the world in real life.

I talk about this in my book, too! This is what we were talking about in 2020.

I also recommend Devon Carbado's book Unreasonable for folks who want to trace the way this was all prepped in the courts.

Police have been chipping away at 4th amendment protections and accountability measures for years. That's what gives us everything ICE is doing, from racial profiling to warrantless searches and seizures.

It feels like dissonance because it IS! ICE are police. Same mission. Similar tactics. You can't logically accept one and not the other.

These fools can't go harder than this because then they'd either have to admit they were wrong about policing in general, or admit that they're absolutely fine with the way police are protected doing everything ICE does, targeted at communities that don't matter to them.

Anyway, I talk about that in my book. Cops love body cams for a reason. They don't do anything for accountability but do provide more toys

You see how quickly this normally obstinate administration went to outfit ICE with body cams? That's because they are ultimately a surveillance tool for the law enforcement agency outfitted with them. Not a tool of accountability. And research shows they can ultimately increase police violence.

For sure, but cops are protected and operate with impunity because governments have scaffolded them forever. Murderous policing is a part of all policing! We can stop it by taking away their tools and their power, ie resources, ie defunding them

Prime example of why body cams don't work and you must defund the police (incl. ICE) to stop them from doing what they're meant to do, which is use violence to control particular populations for the benefit of the wealthy/powerful and to maintain social stratifications

This "law enforcement" justification for the clearly illegal strike on Venezuela is absolutely outrageous and should be reported as such. The death toll is now **80 people** and the **American dictatorial gov't** is like "this was just a simple arrest coming from an indictment, wym?" Unfuckingreal
