'Most trusted' Kiwi food brand loses battle with supermarket duopoly Opinion: There's an untold story behind Heinz Wattie's proposal to close factories and restructure 350 staff, writes Jonathan Milne.

So it was the Supermarkets particularly the predatory Foodstuffs the major catalyst behind Watties closing their factories

Only have to look at Pak N Save recently with their shelves full of their home brand which is cheap imported garbage over NZ and even branded brands

Electoral loss is not a consequence, it’s a paid vacation for these people. They destroy everything and go to the oppositional benches for a break and come back and do more damage. Workers have fewer rights now. Beneficiaries have more hardship. Everything is more expensive.

A young woman in our singing group didn't know who Janis Joplin was. So we said Janis was a contemporary of Jimi Hendrix - but she didn't know who he was, either. So we said they performed at the historic Woodstock concert...she said oh yeah, I think my grandma once mentioned something about that.

You can literally see where this government increased our exposure to oil price shock

There is no reason for this other than oil money funding politics

You know Smithers, I don't think reminding the entire country that the Labour Government did well in extreme circumstances when the National Government is doing shite in unpressured circumstances is quite the tactical stroke of genius they thought it would be.

National lamenting $60 billion Covid spend while they are on track to borrow $120 billion with no pandemic.

Labour saved 20,000 lives.

National are saving landlords and tobacco

They don’t understand bloody anything. Not the refrigerator truck morgues, not the mass graves, not the resthomes full of corpses.
They sure as hell don’t realise our lockdowns were short af and kids were out of school for very short times.

As someone who was in that last Auckland lockdown, I firmly believe the Government did the best it could throughout the main acute phase of the pandemic at every point. Hindsight is 20:20 but I'm glad Simeon Brown wasn't making any decisions during that period.

Submitters’ primary concerns about the safety of the COVID-19 vaccines
can be categorised as follows.
° mRNA vaccines (which use messenger RNA to instruct the body’s cells to
produce a viral protein that evokes an immune response in the person
receiving them) alter DNA or modify genes, causing cancer and other
harmful conditions.
° The manufacturing process for Comirnaty was changed which affected
its safety.
° The Comirnaty vaccine was still ‘experimental’ at the time of approval
and had not been properly tested.
° The Comirnaty vaccine produced harmful side effects which authorities
have not acted on appropriately.
° The long-term effects of the Comirnaty vaccine remain uncertain.
1383 We have carefully considered these issues, drawing on advice and evidence
from a range of experts and sources, including studies provided to us
by submitters, research published in leading scientific journals and
conclusions from international regulatory authorities and the COVID-19
Vaccine Independent Safety Monitoring Board. This review makes clear
that the concerns raised are not grounded in reliable evidence or aligned
with scientific consensus. While we acknowledge the sincerity of those
who brought these concerns to us, ultimately our conclusions reflect the
most robust and widely accepted scientific evidence available.

Prepare for meltdowns from any VFF or similar people in your life. I think they genuinely convinced themselves the phase 2 report was going to prove them right.
Reader, it did not.

This is just straight neolib ACT policy dressed up as a Westpac report.

We don't want the Americanisation of our health system. Any public sector woes would be dwarfed by the poverty and poor health privatisation would bring to many AoNZers. Westpac and Seymour can just fuck off with this. #nzpol

More scope for private sector to ease public healthcare woes, report says The Westpac report found the public health system was under growing presssure, with an ageing population and wider social challenges pushing demand ever further beyond capacity.

The solution is obviously fund public health to a level it requires

Paying private companies to do the same work is (1) just privatization by the back door and (2) going to cost more

None of that is better for us as a country

Each Covid-19 wave wrecks your health. Here's what you can do Hospitalisations and deaths from the virus are climbing as the ninth wave of Covid-19 surges across Aotearoa.

“Pharmacies spoken to by RNZ say they haven't seen any unusual uptake in people coming in to get a Covid-19 booster in the last few months.”

Probably because we need to fund our health system which means we can then fund our health comms, the lack of which also wrecks our health and costs lives.

I believe that deliberate attacks on water facilities are illegal and in contravention of the ENMOD Convention set up in 1976 to counter the kind of environmental destruction the US wrought on Vietnam.

Covered this phenomenon in my book - trees add significant value to houses.
Making them pollinator and wildlife friendly species only enhances the effect!

Anti-drone nets are now a lifeline in Ukrainian cities&villages close to the frontline.

Russian drones always hunt for vehicles, and these nets protect civilians, medics, Defenders.

The nets need constant maintenance and replacement. They are damaged by drones, explosions, even weather.
