A good family friend just got her Green Card! My whole family was together when she called to tell us it was approved a while back, & I don't think I've ever heard so much joy in a person's voice.

There is no use of Twitter that doesn't enrich the owner & support the views he espouses/amplifies there. Active/passive use is just a question of the degree of support.

Everyone votes w/ their own feet, & there can be valid reasons to stay on Twitter (e.g., sharing opinions w/ those who have different views, understanding their perspective). But I think it's important to be realistic about the trade-off:

In your metaphor, the bar owner is a Nazi. Anyone drinking there, even quietly, is letting him profit off their presence, giving him their time/attention, & sending a tacit signal that his hateful views/actions are acceptable.
